My brother-in-law went to Sentara Abemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, NC, twice (9/5/2015 and 5/2016) and both times they did not do what he asked them to do concerning billing VA. If you do not bill VA first, they will not pay. Sentara Abemarle Medical Center billed Medicare and they pay only 80% leaving the patient to pay the rest. The service here has been very disappointing. The team of night nurses has worked well together and stayed on top of my mother's care. The days have not went as well. I had the worst experience at this hospital. They couldn't determine that my baby was breached until I've been induced twice and it didn't work. I had to wait 2 hours until they opened the door and let me in my room, which they used as a closet, it had a clogged sink and nurses kept coming to get stuff from it.
