A contemporary, steely blue-gray beach house rising from the dunes offers peace and quiet within walking distance of the commercial area. Crisp, colorful linens dress the beds, and rooms have private decks, ceiling fans, and baths stocked with thick cotton towels. The suite has a whirlpool bath, sitting area, and cable TV. You may use the tennis courts and the swimming pool and get beach access...
As an alternative to the more expensive Sanderling, this B&B lies in the heart of Duck, close to shops and restaurants. It's a small, casual place but a choice one. It's located in the tranquil neighborhood of Sea Pines between the ocean and Currituck Sound. Dating from 1995, Advice 5¢ is thoroughly modernized, with spacious and well-furnished guest rooms, most with private bathrooms with tub...

This B&B is one of the best B&B's we have ever stayed in. Our 5-night stay here through Columbus Day weekend was outstanding. The owner/manager, Nancy, was friendly, very helpful with area recommendations, and was a wonderful cook for our delicious breakfasts. The inn is very spacious with guest access to a huge great room with comfy furniture, a large...
Although we had gone on a cruise to celebrate our 45th Wedding Anniversary, the actual weekend of our Anniversary and my birthday approached and threatened to be just a "stay at home weekend". Last minute decision we booked two nights at "Advice 5 cents bed and breakfast". This was a very good decision. The house is beautiful! We had the...
This B & B was very clean, room def on the small side for the price..decor in this one somewhat dated..like a boys bedroom from the 1980s...innkeeper ./owner very knowledgeable ,efficient& there if you need her..not hanging around; lovely 2nd fl Library/Great room..short walk or drive to a lovely beach..can walk to a good restaurant & shops a stone throw away..our...
Very clean. Great service by the owner. Location is wonderful. Three night stay was just excellent I would highly recommend this place for a couple looking to be by the ocean but not overwhelmed by noise.
It was my husband and I's first trip to a B&B. The house was lovely, it was quiet. The room was very clean. We arrived in the evening after check in. The rules were on our dresser with our receipt from the payment we made over the phone. It was a bit overpriced, we only stayed a night though. I...
Recently stayed here with my wife for 4 nights. There are very few options for those that want a shorter stay than the typical week long beach rental. Advice 5 Cents is an excellent option. Location is great, right around the corner from the main dowtown area of Duck. Beach is an easy 0.4 mile walk and they provide beach...
The owners we welcoming and friendly. My wife and I went past it the day before our stay and they welcomed us that our room was open and we could stay that night as well. Very friendly. It was nice and quiet. A perfect place for out honey moon! The breakfast were great and the rooms were very clean.
This place was a gem. Within walking distance to shops and restaurants and a short walk to the beach. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone who is interested in a great alternative to the pricey hotels in the area. Clean, comfy and a great value!
The rooms are clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was truly amazing. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Located a short walk to the ocean, spitting distance from Duck Road and the sound.
The rooms and entire house was spotlessly clean. Well appointed rooms and common areas. Comfortable living rooms for lounging in hot or bad weather. A nook for family games, which we played late into the night without disturbing guests. Extensive decking for guest use.
Breakfast...
Dealing with the reservations was simple enough because the dates of our stay were completely void of any other guests, and we soon discovered why. This was our second stay at a B&B, and perhaps we were spoiled from the southern charm and delicious food with snacks in between in Asheville, NC- but hiding the "free" breakfast cereals in the...
Visited the Outer Banks this spring and decided to stayed away from the hub-bub of Nags Head. We were delighted to find this B & B tucked away in Duck where we could relax in peace and quiet. Lovely conversations at breakfasts. Appreciated the home made breakfasts and great coffee. We will be back this fall.
B&B was very clean and the experience was quiet and relaxed. But in reality it was only an expensive motel room. Breakfast was less than a continental type found at basic hotels. Owner was curt and formal. B&B's that I stayed at had more personality. It was a good five minutes from the beach and closer to the town of...
Ok, i finally get it. This place is all about the Lucy character in the Penuts comic strip. If you're like me (Charlie Brown) and hate having the football pulled away just as you're about to kick, then you'll be disappointed in this B&B.
The place is very clean, and new, with good common areas to share with other guests....
This is a comfortable B&B. I was satisfied with the central location to the beach and shops, as well as with the size of the room and the quality of the bedding (great fluffy towels). Yes, the owners keep to themselves, but then, we weren't there much ourselves. Breakfast was more of a continental style, with fresh baked scones and...
My daughter and I stayed at Advice 5cents on June 25th and 26th. We are very familiar with this area of the Outer Banks as our family has been vacationing in Duck and Corolla for the past 15 years. However, our family has always rented a cottage for a full week, and my daughter and I were there only for...
A friend and I stayed here for a weekend. There were four or five other guests at the time. I guess the proprietors are sort of hospitality-challenged, as other travelers report, but we didn't care. What pissed us off was the "breakfast" portion of the experience. There was plenty of coffee and tea, but the muffins (homemade but reheated in...
Hosts were not welcoming. Hosts were irritated when disturbed during the day for help with difficult shower heador other maintenance matter. Did not feel welcome to relax in public parts of house. Proprietors complained at length during morning breakfast about difficulty of running the bed and breakfast. I did not feel comfortable and would not return.

My wife and I look forward to our trip to the Outer Banks. Our original plan was to stay at Advice 5 Cents. I read the other reviews, which are mixed, and proceeded with optimism. After booking a regular room back in April, my wife decided an upgrade to the suite would be a nice touch. She called and left...
This was the first bed and breakfast experience my husband and I have had. We were pleased with our overall visit.
Some of the other reviews mentioned the innkeepers were not very friendly - I found that to be true, but we prefer it that way.
The breakfast and coffee each morning was terrific. Just enough and healthy choices.

The setting is quite beautiful, the house is nice, near the beach and this B&B has the potential for greatness.
However, the angry couple that runs this particular B&B should do something else because during my stay it was quite apparent that they were not interested in having guests stay with them. They were unfriendly, unavailable, and there is no...
We stayed at Advice 5 Cents for two nights, and realized after our stay that it is not just the beauty of the room or of the setting that is important in a wonderful Bed and Breakfast experience, but the warmth and humor of the owners, as well. We have no complaints about the room, as it was lovely (if...
Having sent two e-mails to Advice 5 Cents (both of which were concise and asked simple, easy to answer questions) and receiving no reply, I have given up on attempting to stay here and will continue to stay at the Surfside.
Here's some advice - and it's FREE! How about answering your potential customers e-mails!
The inn is beautiful as are the rooms. Having stayed in many bed and breakfasts though, this inn is run like a business and not a typical bed and breakfast. You MUST check in only between 3 and 5. If you want to come at any other time, forget it. Since we arrived in the early afternoon, we just wanted...
My idea of a beach house!
This is my idea of a beach house (if I had the money:-))). Nancy and Donna did a great job in decorating the rooms. The colors are light and maritime. The living room (with fireplace and outlook) is absolutely beautiful. There are lots and lots of books, most of them brandnew.
Our room was...
