I love Mexican food! And this place is the best in the Peninsula. I usually go to places several times before I give it a 5-star rating and Abuelo's deserved it each time! Service has always been...
I just went for lunch, and it was forgettable. It all LOOKS like Mexican food, but the freshness and flavor were lacking. Just bland.
Visited for the first time last night and could not have been more pleased. Even during peak dinner time, we were seated quickly, were able to order, ask about some menu items and generally have...
Walking around the Peninsula Town Center, we decided to check out Abuelo's for dinner. We had no problem being seated by the window and had a great server, Mark, who quickly brought out a trio of...
Tonight was my first night back at Abuelo's in a couple years. For some reason, I remember it way differently than my visit tonight so I will focus on that.I was able to snag a parking spot...
We visited Abuelos on Sunday (9/15). I wanted Mexican, but I also wanted to watch the Redskins game. Venues like Green Turtle & Bar Louie were filled to capacity so we landed at Abuelos and I was pleasantly surprised. It was clean, calm atmosphere, and good energy around the bar.
There were …
This is another spot that I hit up as soon as they opened. Off the bat I realized that they had one of the best happy hours in the area. The eats were inexpensive, tasty and the drink specials were awesome. Since then, the prices have increased slightly, but the food has remained consistent. Still one of the …
Bland, overpriced food combined with an overbearing but inattentive waiter with b.o. made for a dining experience that was awful, awful, awful . It is truly amazing that this place manages to stay open surrounded by better Mexican restaurants that are far more wallet friendly. If you get the urge to try …
This is some of the best Mexican food I have had in many years. The food is rustic, fresh with a wonderful taste. The servers were prompt, helpful and knowledgable on all items on the menu. The decor was subtle and did not distract from the dining experience.
On our next visit, we will eat in the patio area.
Went for lunch, prices were o.k as well as the food. It did take several minutes to get my complete order even after everyone else at my table got their food
Friday night, crowded, mixed demographic (young adult, some families and couples). And, although the host originally gave us a waiting time of about an hour it only took about thirty minutes. I…
With a true Mexican chef, the food is considerably better than most other Mexican restaurants. The chef is an import from Mexico City and does a very credible presentation and the taste is excellent.…
Came here with a very large group of family and friends on a friday night. Upon entering Abuelos, we were promptly greeted and led to where the group was seated. Let me tell you....the place was…
Really great happy hour, but since I have a true appreciation for authentic Mexican food I would not recommend coming here exclusively for dining. The sangria swirl margarita is delicious & the…
I would say that the other two posters are pretty accurate on the service. They are very knowlegable and attentive, if not a bit intrusive, but I always had a full water and offerss to have my…
Abuelo's in the Peninsula Town Center is a new Mexican Restaurant that recently opened up. It's part of a larger national chain, but I believe this is the first on in Virginia. Upon walking in, we…
"Not as Mexican as I thought it would be." -DC (dining companion)The service was muy bueno. I came here for dinner four days after their grand opening, so I guess the servers were still taking their…
