In Short
Since its 1952 debut in Memphis, Tenn., Holiday Inn has become one of the most recognized hotel brands in the world. Kids rule here: Children age 19 and younger stay for free...
This place was absolutely disgusting. Dead bugs in room, dirty, used soap in the shower, no toilet paper AC broke dog feces in the courtyard, OLSH mattresses, tv's and garbage in the hallway. This hotel is a disgrace, and the staff should be ashamed!!\n\nSee above!!
At all well I did not like it at all they overcharged me twice --- have bed bugs in it and they wouldn't even give me my money back that they charged off my card they told me I have to wait until 3 days I've been calling them they ain't been picking\n\nA double charge me for the room and they have bed bugs and --- they will not give me the proper number so I can make a complaint
It was close to a major way. Bedding was clean.\n\nLawns not mowed, dirty around the laundry rooms, very dirty floors in rooms as well as bathroom.
we checked in @ 440pm and room was not ready, and they were still putting pillow cases on the pillows It didn't look like the room was vaccumed or the bathroom cleaned. They front desk clerk, was not very friendly...
It was a great experience.. the bed and pillows were so soft....
I arrived a little after 3:00 PM. The room air conditioner was not on, the TV did not work and the phone did not work: it was not even plugged in. It took hours for the room to cool down enough to stop sweating. The staff responded in a timely manner. The outward appearance of the motel was rusted and not kept up. I would not recommend this motel to anyone.
It nice but door hard to open and close and the lock is broken the cleaning and towel were not brought in but over all I will gay again
The hotel is an ok hotel things where not that put togther. Our room wasnt ready when we got there the wifi didnt work and no phone in the room.
We needed somewhere that we would not be stressed or disturbed. Our stay provided both.
Don't expect much when your paying so little. Not the best of people staying around you, and a very sketchy maintenance man. About an hour from the beach.
Met our needs, but I would not recommended it. Smoking odors was a problem in our nonsmoking room.
It was fine but the ac didn't really work, which made our night miserable.
Okay. Nothing special. Nothing too good. Nothing too bad.
Smoking room smelled horrible. Door safety latch falling off. Found a Roach on the bathroom sink.
I was very disappointed when I woke up in the morning and realized that, there was no continental breakfast or snacks of any kind that were complimentary to my stay. I was told that there was coffee and tea in the lobby but, there was only pre brewed coffee that was in carafes. the management was not very friendly or people-oriented or delightful in any way.they did not make it seem like it was...
Nice hotel, reasonable prices. Was near where I needed to be.
Our room was clean, comfortable, maybe a bit dated, plenty of hot water AC worked very well. Breakfast was hot, nice variety, eating area was CLEAN and order free. Staff very friendly and polite!!!
One room had spiders and crickets.
One of the worst places I have ever stayed and I'm well traveled. We rented 4 rooms. The rooms have flees in them, the air conditioning in more then one room do not blow out cold air. The lobby...
The quality of the beds were not that great. And the hotels could really use more modern bed covers. Also, there was a mildew and cigarette smell even though i was in nonsmoking.
I wish I had read the reviews before booking this room. I thought the staff was nice until I needed something, they gave me attitude. The staircase and hallway leading to my room had the worse smell and was full of spiderwebs, bugs and guests standing outside there rooms smoking. The room was disgusting, mildew smell, the bathroom tub had a dirt ring around it and hair from the guest before. Dead...
The lobby is well kept and the service people were pleasant. It was cheap. There was a light breakfast. The pool area was passable. These are the positive comments. I knew that at the price I paid, I was not staying at a 5 Star hotel. However, I did expect clean. The rooms smell like mildew - there is no fan exhaust anywhere and the carpet was actually damp with moisture. The wallpaper and...
This was a very poor hotel. The rooms are dirty, the bathroom are scary. I made such a poor decision on this hotel. It wasn't close to anything. If i could get my money back i would. Please don't do it. Find anything thing else. It's not worth the money.
Bathroom dirty. Foreign people being loud outside room door@7am
Upon first arrival: The main sign is fading and dented and out back there is a pile of disgusting mattresses that is not reassuring at all about where you'll be sleeping. It looks like the outside...
Room smelled & was very damp & mold in sink! Smelled bad - tired otherwise would have left - don't stay here
Hole in towel, sticky pillow, rusty lines running down inside of front door, generally gross and not comfortable.
This place is terrible! Outside is not well kept when you arrive, I stand at the front desk forever then have to walk a hall to find someone to come to the desk to check in. The smells on the way...
Hotel needs major upgrading! The rooms are at best dreary. The breakfast was awful. We will find another place to stay if we're going through Suffolk, which is by the way, a pretty city.
The QI is a former Holiday Inn which is about 30 years old. It's had some renovations but is suffering from the accumulated years and effects of deferred maintenance. It doesn't offer the amenities or the offerings of its competition down the road but you can save a few $$ by staying here if you don't mind working around its rough edges.
Ok for one night stay - would not book again though - room was not vacuumed and tables & bathroom needed to be wiped down but ok for a pit stop 1 night stay. Had clean linens though....:/
Check in was effortless and I checked into a room that had all of the amenities that were advertised. Quiet this time of year which made it perfect as a layover location on my way to my final destination.
One night is ok iwant to come back in the summer
Room was to clean need to update
won't stay again. Shopped by price, got what we paid for.
the front desk gave excellent customer service the room bathroom was dirty I was very disappointed but overall it was good do it
The only thing clean about the room was the bed, and no bed bugs. The ceiling was spotted and paint was peeling, the carpet was pulling from the wall, there were spots on the carpet everywhere. The only updates I saw was the bedding and the vanity top. Major concern it looked like mattresses had been replaced but they put the old ones right in the back of the hotel leaned up against a storage...
I stayed here about 2 months ago and wasn't very pleased but I had to come back to the area and the Quality Inn was all that I could afford so I figured I would just deal with it again.
I arrived at the hotel, I could see they have put some effort into their landscaping. I checked in, the...
I come here each year to spend a week visiting my family in Suffolk. I always stay at this hotel. This year when I entered my room I was totally suprised! They have done so much remodeling. New mattresses, new chairs, new flatscreen televisions and fresh paint. They still offered me the same great rate. I will definately be back...
My husband and I came back to this hotel because of the great price and location. When we arrived the front desk lady Kimberly was very nice and recommended a fantastic place for dinner. When we went to our room we ran into the housekeeper who was also very nice. The room was clean when we got in it. It...
The room had so much moister in it that if resolved my medicine I layer out to take the next morning.
Stopped here bc we were tired of driving for the day and thought cheap is good since we just needed a few hours sleep...big mistake picking here! We were assigned a rm on the first floor even after I asked about the first floor being musty bc I have real bad allergies and were told no, it was not musty...
Dirty and run down - avoid
The mold infested room sent my daughter & wife to the emergency room. After 2 nights of sleeping in the room we discovered it over the bed, in the shower, and in the fridge. After discovering the problem and realizing that the shortness of breathe we were experiencing was due to the mold exposure, we checked out and demanded a...
ARROGANT MANAGEMENT! This is my final answer to their response to my complaint. Apparently the customer is NEVER right here. ...The attitude and response to my complaint angered me. (I rarely make complaints) I will NEVER stay there again and will tell others to avoid it!!! Their records are WRONG and BOTH rooms we were offered were DIRTY. I am...
I work on the road we get 4 rooms for 2 months.... this hotel fights with u over towels and when u get them they are like rags.... the cleaning staff is rude. I would rather pay more money at the holiday inn and get treated like a king then stay in this so called hotel...
The manager /owner was rude not sure who he truly was because he refused to answer me when I asked who he was and what was his title. He actually said none of my business. The rooms were not up to par and dirty. In my room there were clothes left behind from previous occupants, The room my son occupied...
When I realized this Quality Inn was right at the intersection of two major routes in Suffolk, I was afraid that the noise of traffic would be disturbing. It was not in the slightest. I cannot say the same for the two dogs in the room next door, but at least they were quiet during sleeping hours! It is nice to know there is a PET FRIENDLY motel in a decent part of town. And speaking of TOWN,...
It was o.k. The rooms and bathroom could be a little bit cleaner.
For a last minute hotel change, it was great. I was impressed with the breakfast and the kids loved it.
Just wanted a place to sleep being close to VA beach but this place is horrible. Rooms are not maintained - cobwebs, spiders and dirt. Not worth the price and definitely not 2 1/2 stars that some sites rated this hotel.
Stay away!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS . this place is falling apart and very unsecure there were non guests in the parking lot playing loud music people in the parking lot using the free internet if this site would let me rate it a total zero I would
this hotel is a total dump! broken down falling apart dead bugs in the hallway old hard furniture. The staff were friendly and helpfull but otherwise a total nightmare there were non guests in the parking lot all night long playing loud music and using the free wifi the continental breakfast consisted of old stale pastry and stale cereal and warm milkAnyone that has given a good review of this...
As we were traveling towards Virginia Beach from Greenville SC, I began searching for a place to stay along Rt 58. There wasn't much to choose from until we hit Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, and we knew it would be too late, so I found the Quality Inn in Suffolk. Having had some good experiences with Choice Hotels in the...
While traveling for a horse show in Wakefield Va., our family needed a place to sleep that included reasonable amenities, nice things like convenience to food, eating at the truck stop next door served that need, a need which could not be helped by the Inn's continental breakfast thanks to the horse show schedule, that show also providing the exercise...
we stay couple time in this hotel and have very good customer service and clean room.we enjoy the all u can eat break fast.the rate is vey affordable for the town another hotel on town is very expensive.
The bed had a yellow blanket that looked like it came from the 80's and the bed wasn't too plush, but overall it was a good deal. The smoke detector went off every time I took a shower.
I got married in VB, but our reception was in Suffolk so we booked a few rooms for family. Once we heard how disgusting this place was we immediately cancelled the 2 rooms that we booked for my inlaws. I cancelled and they said "not a problem" but a few days later I noticed that they still charged me for...
My family and I have stayed there multiple times and it's a good enough hotel, however the overall quality of the place isn't the best. For example, the doors to our rooms sometimes stuck, they didn't want to close all the way, you really had to shut them with some force. The rooms are a decent size and the beds...
The room was dingy the mattress was terrible. Will never stay there again
I stayed at this motel for work, the guy at the front desk was nice, but didn't seem like he fully knew what was going on. The room was typical motel size. The toilet ran all night the pillows were like throw pillows on a couch they were small . The room was not well kept, every outlet I tried...
This hotel is basically fine for a overnight stay. Nothing fancy or outstanding but relatively clean and no problems that I could tell.
Here the problem I have with regard to their customer service: I left my cell phone charger in the room after I checked out. The hotel found the charger but will not send it to me. They...
We wanted to visit Great Dismal Swamp - really worth it but limited options to stay close by. Having read some of the reviews was a but nervous but this was satisfactory. The room was clean and bed comfortable but the breakfast... Plastic cutlery' plastic plates and plastic food. Got to breakfast at 0800 (it didn't finish till 0930) -...
Door didn't self close properly. HVAC noisy/rattles, and luckily it wasn't too hot out, or it wouldn't have been cold enough. Breakfast buffet was paltry.
This was the Hotel from H$%#. To start with when, we booked the room, their was no mention of an addition pet fee.(We should have been told before arriving) and I told them I would be traveling with a little dog. When we arrived after driving 4hrs., and late for a wedding function, I didn't have time to complain about...
Room smelled stale and old. Used Febreeze daily to cover up the odor of the carpet and drapes.
Checked in and went to my room and found that my AC didn't work, moved me into a room without a fridge even though that's what I had asked for. I had to go back and get in changed again...Wasn't a problem because there was hardly anyone in the hotel and I eventually ended up in a room that was acceptable but nothing to write home about. Staff handled it all with a smile but it was an annoying...
good stop over going to beach. will keep coming back. good place to eat at Baron's Pub.
This is an exterior property, but the owner have upgraded the hotel. They have new carpets, new tiles in the bathroom, and flat screen TV's. The hotel staff is nice a friendly, and the housekeeping supervisor is amazing.
This hotel staff is so sweet and friendly. For an exterior property the hotel look great and the rooms are will maintan. They offer contenintel breakfast and in breakfast they provide full breakfast. I stay in many hotels but the staff is not as friendly as this hotel. They treat you like a family.
every year we going throw the area and always stay in quality inn.and these people realy care about customers.the breakfast was very delicious, swiming pool large and clean, the room was clean.and it is easy location.
If you just want a place to sleep and don't mind the room being a bit rundown, then this is a good value. The room has a fridge and microwave. Carpet was damp and comforter thin. This was an old Holiday Inn and has exterior doors. Many other hotels in the area were either too high or sold out. I wouldn't send my mom there but for two adults just spending the night while traveling it was ok.
Comfortable and clean, big pool.
Let me begin by stating that I am a very laid back, easy going person and I am not picky at all. After reading the reviews for this place I decided to go ahead and stay despite what I read and figured I'd be okay with the place. I was completely wrong.
First of all, I traveled here for work...
1st the mini fridge door wouldn't close they said they would send someone to fix it but never did
2nd the AC leaked water all on the carpet
3rd the bed fell off the frame during the middle of the night while my husband was sleeping
4th the pool that was supposed to open at 10 didn't open until 12...
the hotel was run-down and dirty and was a huge disappointment for the price.
Hotel was worn. Has seen better days.
room was clean, but for upgraded room which we paid for here's our list of why we wont stay again,OUT DATED BAD!, room like a sardine can , shower water pressure, i have better water pressure, and the water felt like oil didn't feel like i rinsed at all,and i have bigger hand towels than there towels, THE BED, well lets...
there were quite a few spider webs, bugs and flys. We killed flys and every day more appeared. Don't know where they came from.
This is an average Quality Inn for a night. It is one of the cheaper hotels in the area, but for one night it is good. The hotel is a bit older but it works good for one night. The landscaping isn't kept up that great, but the room itself was clean. It had a pool that they were cleaning...
The staff was wonderful. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. The pool was very clean and refreshing. The beds were old and worn with one broken. It was clean and the grounds outside were nice to walk around. All in all a pleasant stay.
The room should have been aired out and cleaned better before allowing guest to stay in it. Noticed ants in the window around the air condition in the morning, would have asked for a different room if we noticed them when we arrived. Please check the room thoroughly when you first get in it. Staff was friendly, location good. Would consider staying there again.
Hotel staff was very poliet. The courtesy of the staff is amazing. Best hotel experience I ever had.
Hotel is very clean. Nice breakfast in compare to other hotels we experiencesed afterwards.
Hotel needs a make over, old looking. Bath Tub/Shower was filthy. My co workers room was bigger, even though we paid the same rate. Gym was closed. Insects in room due to broken threshold to room door. Not a well taken care of place. The only thing nice was the pillows, and the HD tv.
We love Quality Inn's so we chose to stay here..It started out great with the manager giving a contractors rate of 50.00..plus 25 for each dog..So we stayed for a Week as we travel 20 days plus a month with business..then we got our room..small, smelled kinda like burnt hair..but we opened the door aired it out..they had a pool...
Very nice service at the front desk - friendly, helpful, pleasant, efficient. Room was clean and comfortable, furnishings were adequate.
Recent stay, Feb 2012. Finished business in Norfolk, seemed good idea to get a little away from the city for morning drive west. I must admit, front desk personnel were very polite and efficient. My first assigned room had the stopper from the sink sitting on the counter, should have been a sign. Brushed my teeth and all kinds of...
Thats was a horrible hotel to stay in. i will not book a room there again..
Hotel was fine for our needs. Staff friendly and helpful.
This is a very average place to stay and in many respects does an ok job i.e. cleanish, staff friendly and at the price point (which is the point) represents value for money.
Ok in a rush
The hotel is old and hasn't been recently remodeled. The room was musty with peeling wallpaper and cracked tile. The bed was low to the ground and completely uncomfortable. Not worth the money paid for the room, which wasn't inexpensive. Look elsewhere.
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights after driving through the area from Canada on our way to the Outer Banks, NC. There are several hotels in the area however many of them appeared to be rather run down and did not seem to be in the best area. We did not make prior arrangements for accomodations so after...
This is the best hotel that i have ever stayed at in suffolk the staff has made every visit there very special the rooms are clean and theyhave always made sure that all my needs were met i would like to say thank you to Sara Mrks and the rest of the staff for making evey visit a great one....
Do not let their website mislead you. This is not your usual Quality Inn or Choice Hotels. There are several rooms rented by employees that work with my husband and the rooms are nasty. the furniture is dirty and stained. The ceilings appear to have water damage as there are very noticable patched areas. Our mini-fridge and microwave are very...
Yes, the location of this hotel is PERFECT, right on RT 460 East( no turns or detours)
However, the clealiness of the hotel was OK ( just)
No ice machines near the rooms
Moldy spots on the walls in the bed areas and bathrooms.
The staff- spooky!
I had to be/get aggresive with the staff( Not my way of life)...
What you'd expect from an off-ramp hotel...somewhat worn in places (out-of-order ice machines, not-so-sparkling toilet, etc.) but at least no fear of bedbugs as some other options in Suffolk.
Clean location just off highway, very conveniant for any traveler. Traveling by myself, so this hotel worked perfectly for me. Rooms were clean, they must have put some updates since the reviews here, cuz the carpets and bathroom tiles were nice and new. Staff was extremely friendly. I would recommend here.
This Quality Inn isn't up to the same standards as the others I've stayed at recently. The exterior, lobby and restaurant are all well-maintained, but the rooms are showing their age. The carpets and wallpaper are somewhat worn, the ceiling is inexpertly patched, and so on. The breakfast was a bit disappointing: poor quality coffee, mass-market pastries, scrambled eggs and...
Room was just renevated, real nice. Traveled down with my wife to visit family and needed a place to stay. Hotel was right off highway so was conveniant to get to. The personell was very pleasant, very friendly. Also very informative, answered any questions we had asked them. Very affordable rates. Over all was very pleased with our stay and...
It was okay, we switched rooms to be closer to the pool. A truck stop is nearby, but not many truckers. The Bathrooms need remodeling, badly, toilet ran all night, but in all it was a great and affordable place to stay.
Booked it for a wee -; left after one night. The door to the room wouldn't budge unless you put a shoulder to it. Room was non-smoking in name only. Bed frame had a piece jutting out at mid mattress that could gouge you (I put the chair there to remind me). Most other guests were truckers or working for...
When we opened the door it smelled. There was food particles on desk top, My wife opened hotel directory and a live spider ran out. Bed was not flat. Cob webs on TV stand. Dead bugs on rack over where you hang clothes. Bath room was NASTY. Poor built sink stand coming apart. Exposed holes in wall for water lines....
This hotel is just a pleasure! we had a GREAT time at this hotel. Front desk people were friendly as was all other employees we had contact with...smiles everywhere. The room was large and clean. The room were recently updated. Plus the room has everything you would need. This is also the best location you'll find. Food at the resturaunt...
Rooms recently refurbished.....very clean, comfortable. Exterior still needs some work. Location convenient for our needs...family wedding. Staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Free breakfast was very good. We were pleased with our choice. Excellent value for the rate.
the room was okay for the price. A microwave and refrigerator would have been nice.
This has been one of the poorest hotel experiences that I can remember. We came to Suffolk for a family reunion, and stayed for three days. The room is clean, the beds are comfortable (for double beds). But there are many small negatives that for us have added up. There is only one operable ice machine in the hotel, so...
I booked this hotel becuase i was traveling with a few other people on a budget. I original booked at the Best Western since it was reopening on june 15th and had been renovated. The hotel opening date was pushed back so i ended up booking at the Quality Inn. The front desk area was okay. There was a computer...
After reading the previous 2 reviews I anticipated a better stay than what I actually experienced. I see now that the two reviewers were both from that area and it's the only reviews they've ever posted. Makes you wonder. Check in was fine, very friendly.
First room I was in had some mildew in the bathroom, part of the pedestal...
Apparently this place has changed for the better since the crummy reviews it received in 2006. I stayed at the Quality Inn for one night on a birdwatching trip as it is fairly close to the Great Dismal Swamp NWR. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, nice and modern. The continental breakfast was good with juices, fruit, cereal,...
