Editorial review from Citysearch

Went to A&P ARMS, first time , The customer service and the range was very good, will be going back again, excellent customer service.

Editorial review from Citysearch

We went here 2-8-14 and it was very busy, but got right in to a lane and got great service with a purchase. We are going back today. And taking the concealed permit class.

Editorial review from Citysearch

Let me start by saying I am very disturbed by the comments I just read being the Manager of the Lynnhaven location now and being under new ownership and management for a while now and newly staffed with knowledgeable and courteous people I hope I can convince those that have been disappointed to give us one more chance. We have completed the construction on the building and are striving to regain a place in the hearts of the firearms enthusiasts in the area.

Editorial review from Citysearch

Under new management and is a fantastic place to shoot!

Editorial review from Citysearch

I am only giving a one star because this site makes you otherwise it would be zero stars. The worst experience I have had at a shooting range. The employees are very rude and yell at you. How unprofessional and slightly intimidating . I was never advised of the rules but was yelled at and referred to as a stupid for not knowing. Was charged for ammo in advance but was unable to use. They refused to refund unused ammo. We ( group of 4) were not asked for identification and sold ammo. Only one of us was over 21. Refused to let me speak to owner about my concerns. Would not go back here...

i have been to allot of gun stores but every one i talk to has this rock star attitude and it drives me nuts. i went to a and p arms about a week ago and was amazed with the service. they where kind and professional and quick to get to me and everyone seemed down to earth. i know i will be doing the rest of my shopping at a and p.

Horrible Service

Average Rating

I have been around guns all my life. Growing up on the farm, serving 20 years in the military, having a husband and son who love to shoot. I don't shoot as often as they do - but I am not too shabby and can handle my own when it comes to guns.

Recently my husband bought me a new .38 revolver and we decided to go to the range to shoot it. Boy was that a mistake. Never have I been met with anything less than professionalism and outstanding customer service - until I entered the A&P Arms in Lynnhaven. The young man behind the counter was rude and wasn't interested in helping anyone at...

Strict, but Safe

For my first experience with them everything was just great. I went there to shoot my new Kel Tec KSG and upon arrival I thought ""Man this place is really strict"", but then I right away realized it was all about safety of the staff and people shooting there. Which in my eyes, the safer the better. I even had problems caused by the original lubrication on my KSG, Curtis (one of the staff members) took his time and helped me break it down for the first time right there on the spot. After that it fired perfectly the rest of the night. The biggest misconception with this place is that there...

Excellent buying experience

Purchased a pistol tonight from Kurt. Though near closing time he was patient and courteous with each of our many questions and showed us other options as well. He showed us how to take apart and clean the gun, went over all safety measures, watched us handle the gun and made appropriate and needed suggestions.
He assured us we would always be well taken care of in the shop and range at A&P. i believe him. Big difference in how we were treated here compared to another larger store. Could not be more pleased. Howard F.

Just a novice shooter who asks alot of questions. I've bought a range pass last mar. A grt investment because i shoot twice per week! I have always rec'd excellent service from all the staff. They all seem to have an good grasp of each gun they sell. They always seem to help each customer and ans all the necessary ques.
They seem to run a good shooting range. It's clean, well managed, they follow all the safty rules, and r very helpful if u have a problem, i.e. gun jam! I recently had a ""squibber""(an unloaded cart.) my new cz jammed and stuck tight. I had to call ""Trent"" who...

I'm not one for writing a review good or bad so this is a first for me. I've been taking my wife to A & P for the last several months to get acquainted with shooting a pistol. Finally comfortable in her ability to safely handle a gun we decided to make a purchase. Not knowing much about guns, Curtis (6'10"" can't miss him), was extremely helpful in helping us make a decision. He not only took the time to explain the in and outs of several pistols he even took us back into the gun range to allow my wife and I to test fire a couple of rounds to get the feel for the weapon. Now being so new to...

I'm sorry to be negative....normally I see the good in everything.

But I have made it a point to make an account here just to tell everyone how rude, and arrogant these people are.

First off they act like they are doing you a favor by you spending your hard earned money there. I was about to spend a little over a thousand dollars today. I do not ever expect to have a red carpet treatment or anything....but they are NOT helpful in anyway.

I don't know who these people think they are....but they act as if they are gods or something.

There is this one bit*h there called Victoria,...

BEST EVER

One of the best places i have ever been. I have been to bob's in norfolk and found fault, there is no rifle range. I have been to superior in virginia beach, they're just too bland. A&P has great employees. Every single one of them has a basic knowledge of each gun type and more than one specialty (revolver, pistol, bolt action rifle, &more). I cannot say that all employees are so great but i can say that Christian, Jon (customer service), Victoria (semi-auto), Trent (rifle), and Curtis (all around) are the most knowledgeable gun lovers I know. Oh and there is one more guy that...

The customer service is a joke. After leaving the shooting range, I stood at the counter for at least 20 minutes with out anyone trying to help me.

I've been here before, I knew that most of the employees are dicks. So I wasn't too surprised that nothing changed. The only person that was helpful was the Asian guy running the shooting bays.

The 7 foot black dude still sucks. He walked by me numerous times and not once offered his service. I was trying to purchase a glock 27, but hey, I guess they didn't want my $400.

Then the fat bald white dude, who swears he was an...

We dropped by to look for a gun for my husband and had such a good experience that we came back for one for me the next day. The staff members were all very helpful in directing us to what would be the best product for us. I was even able to try their rental version of the gun I liked before I bought it. We were also looking for an item they did not have and they referred us to a local store that did have it. Good customer service is hard to find these days and they really impressed us, not to mention that their prices were much better than other places we searched.

Professional Staff and Great Customer Service

Average Rating

Having been stationed overseas for the majority of my military career, it has been impossible to purchase any firearms and learn the regulations governing each individual state to keep oneself from mistakenly breaking the law. I finally came across A & P Arms when a friend told me about their shooting range. The staff answered every single question I had concerning gear, guns, laws and trust me, I ask a lot of questions.

Safety is stressed at all times on the range and the rules and regulations are fair. The atmosphere lends itself well to shooting without any distractions. The range is...

Great Customer Service, Prices and Selection

Average Rating

As a new shopper in the Virginia Beach location while on deployment I have had a difficult time finding a quality gun shop and shooting range in the area. I visited all of the other players and found a lack of selection, crazy prices and a generally poor attitude. I visited A&P Arms in Virginia Beach for the first time this weekend and was blown away by the great service and attitiude of the staff. The store was very busy and crowded, but I never felt like I was being neglected, from being greeted as soon as I came through the door through my whole buying experience. The staff took the time...

""A&P Arms; Reconsider who you put behind the counter""

Average Rating

As an active duty military member living in the Tidewater area for more than twelve years, I have utilized the range at A&P Arms countless times. Never have I been met with anything less than professionalism in my experience until today. Customer service was nonexistant as my spouse and I attempted to renew my range safety card, acquire one for my spouse and access the lanes. The young lady behind the counter was apparently more concerned with the text messages she was sending and receiving then attempting to checkout the 4 shooter party infront of us and provide us with our range safety...

The worst service in town

Average Rating

I was aware that they had bad service, but I figured that I would try them anyway. I ordered a rifle and the guy told me it would be there in a week. A week came then he BS'd me and said he called the company and it was on the way. 2 months later I called them to get my money back andf they said they had a box in the back and it is it. It was the wrong gun. I missed 2 gun shows and 3 hunting trips for this crappy sevice. GO TO SUPERIOR TO BUY AND THIS PLACE TO SHOOT!

I first walked in a bit timid; I had never been to this place before. The experience itself was new to me, I was there to rent a handgun and shoot on the range. Didn't take long for me to feel like I was welcome though, Curtis was very helpful and nice. I've talked personally to four other staff members, and they've all been helpful as well. One even came in with me and shot in the lane next to me after instructing me on some things.

They have a list of reasonable common sense rules, that will probably keep most of the, as a previous reviewer said ""gunslingers"" or thug-types out of...

I've been to the range at A & P serveral times and everytime i get great service. Yeah i know i'm a girl and all but these guys are great at everything, yes they can be a little rough around the edges sometimes but who wouldn't when your dealing with guns...i mean com'on... people gotta be careful! this is a great place to go and take your fustrations out...Way to go guys and keep up the good work. I would recommend this place to any girls who are looking to practice and not have to worry about guys trying to pick you up!! this is great! :)

1st time purchase, went to 4 other shops on the peninsula and southside on a sunday where I recieved horrible customer service or no service whatsoever. went to a&p on a crowded sunday minutes before closing and got the best service I've ever had at a firearms shop. Curtis was very knowledgeable and curtious, funny guy (can't miss 'em... he's 9ft tall!) handled all of my newbie questions and took the time to show me and let me handle at least a dozen weapons before I made my selection. all in all I am very pleased, I'll go back again.

When you want to be safe and avoid the ""gun-slinger"" this is the place.

Average Rating

I've read the reviews. Honestly, I had just the oposite experiance. I recently purchased a Glock 17 and have nothing but good things to say. Curtis was helpful and curtious. The other counter personnel were busy but helpful. The wait wasn't because the staff was out smoking. It was because of the high volume of people all wanting to look at or buy a firearm. They still managed to get everyone taken care of in a timely manner. Just remember, there are rules and these are firearms not groceries.

The staff is strick about range rules and safety. If you break the rules, expect to hear...

Very unpredictable service levels...but convenient for little things

Average Rating

These guys have very unpredictable service levels...Some of the managers seem to really try, but then again they sort of allow their employees to go on about their OFP. Have dealt with some extremely rude and useless folks. Not particularly well organized. Lost my name/number for special order several times, and never called when parts came in like they said they would. Then, whenever I call to check the status it is like, they are too busy to answer my petty question. Having said that I have come across a couple of the ""managers"" that really did seem to want to ""make things right"", as...

Safety?

Average Rating

I just started working at A&P and I have to say I love the place...staff AND customers. I came in there as a customer first, and got great service. I loved the fact that the range side was so concerned about my personal safety first. I have been to other ranges and it seems like they could care less whether or not you shoot yourself in the foot. Not everyone that comes through likes the rules, but if you break them down one by one there are VERY good reasons for them. I personally try to make sure everyone has a good time, but not at the risk of life and limb. I hope hope HOPE no one has...

I am part of an organization that has a contract with Lynnhaven/A&P arms. I have been going there for 4 years, and in the beginning it was great. Great staff, very easy going and professional. Within the last year, things have become ridiculous there. The rules change daily...so you have to get a new ""range card"" every time you come in. Second...the staff treat you like children. I realize that some people who come in there are novices, but if I come in and show them my ID Card, I shouldn't be treated like a child. I am an experienced combat shooter and I don't need their attitude and...

I've been a member for well over 10 year. It's been sad watching the service levels drop off. The people are rude and act like they're doing you a favor.

Pros

Cons

Good range, bad customer service

Until recently I never had an issue with customer service. Then again, I usually just went straight to the range. I usually get a great discount there, being military police and all. Suddenly they get this new girl and... no discount. WTF?! It seems to depend on who's working the counter whether or not the discount applies. Ask a different employee as to the policy. Get a different answer. Miltary disount yes. Military discount no. Police only. Police and military. Catch my drift?

Shame on this shop.

Average Rating

Agree with above review that customer service is terrible. Counter help is spotty at best and when they finally do engage, they seemed annoyed to answer even informed questions. Cant guess how a less informed customer will do. Better served to go elsewhere. If that doesn't do it for you, prices are VERY high as well. You wont find a bargain at this shop if that is what you are looking for.

Pros

Counter help not very helpful. I waited forever while 3 people had a conversation as to what the best ar15 rifle to buy was. When I finally got service, it was like they were doing me a favor. And I thought Pro Bass was bad. Take a number service is not for me either.
