I called for service and in less then 30 min the tech called saying he was on his way. Ron was so polite and took care to make sure I understood what was needed to be done for the service I needed. He even took the time to suggest what we could do to prevent this from happening again. Such wonderful service!
After relighting the pilot light again we knew something was probably wrong with the water heater. I called A1 and the receptionist was friendly and understanding. Larry & John came out and after a few minutes determined the issue and found another issue that I was not even aware of. They patiently answered all of my questions which made me feel I was making an informed decision without being pressured. Within a short time a new water heater was installed and we had hot water! My heat went out on President's Day, and I called A1, because I had called them years before to stop a faucet leak. The technicians came out and replaced a switch and got my heat going again. It was 52 degrees in my townhouse. Thanks A1
Randy and Jeff did a superb job in fixing the water pipe leak under my house. They were courteous, explained the problem, and professionally repaired the leak. The phone receptionist was also helpful in scheduling a convenient time/day. Price is on high side.
I had my 2 toilets fixed Larry & John were very pleasant people they got right to the point and worked with us. They did a great job! Although I wish they had a payment plan for our bill of $3000.00 we had put the charge on our credit card we were trying to pay off but the repairs needed to be done. I called A-1 American and the where very professional. They got the service guy out their as soon as possible being it was the summer months and the technician Larry was very friendly and professional. He really new his stuff and talked me through everything that he was doing. He even went up and beyond putting in a piece of equipment that had a shield on it instead of the same one that I had in my ac unit that would of failed in two years again. I came downstairs one morning to find part of my dining room ceiling falling in and water running off the pipes above and onto my floor. A-1 was able to come out same day. John and Larry were the techs, and they were friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to find the cause of the leak, repair it and did a great job of cleaning up afterwards too. The whole process was pretty nice; and there was a nice military discount as well. Very satisfied with my service!
nice to have a company that doesn't try to sell you something you don't need. A-1's tech came to service my 31 yr old heat pump/ air conditioner and I just knew I was going to have to buy a new system. Well he said it is just a transformer that was blown. He left for a little while and came back with a new one and it now works great! Don't fix it till its really broken :) Thank you A-1 American! When it does break I will surely call you to replace it.
We had a plumbing issue at our business recently and had 1 company come to fix it and charged us for it, the issue was not resolved and they were going to charge for another service call. We called A-1 American and Bryan came early the next day and resolved the issue within a few minutes. He went in great detail what the issue was and how he fixed it. I learned more about plumbing that I intended on. He was very passionate about his work and was extremely pleasant.
We will use them in the future and highly recommend them.

Bryan showed up on time. Found the leak/fixed it. However, we then had our toilets taking too long/too noisy to recover. Got Bryan back to fix, which he did in timely manner. Only issue was communicating with office. Hard to do plus they did not communicate to plumber what he was supposed to bring.
A1 American came promptly at the time indicated, easily identified the cause of the leak, and quickly fixed it. Their people were professional and friendly.
Tim was the technician who came to my home to fix burst water pipes. He was very thorough and his customer service skills are exemplary. He explained what needed to be done. I will definetly call A-1 for any future plumbing needs. Tim I Thank you very much!
A-1 continues to provide excellent service. I have had Larry & John put in a whole new heating/AC system, water heater, fix faucets and continue to ensure everything is working properly. The only thing I don't like is that when you're given an estimate for a job, you cannot get any detail of what costs what. By doing this, they do not permit any comparison to others who could perform the work. If you ask me to pay for a service, I should know how much each part of it costs. A good friend of mine used to say "Those that have nothing to hide, hide nothing". (Edited February 11, 2015)
I called A-1 with an issue with our busted pipes in the kitchen. The young lady I spoke to by the name of Tabitha was very professional and scheduled us to receive out service in a timely manner. This occurred on a day that was bitter cold so there was many appointments that were being tended to. When the plumber showed up he was very professional as well. His name is Wayne. He fixed the issue in a timely manner. There was a little leak and he came back to fix that with no hesitation. He applied all the discounts to my bill and it was greatly appreciated.
A few weeks later we had a different issue. I called to make another appointment with them. I requested Wayne and my request was honored. The work he performed was above and beyond.
I would highly recommend this company to all. The professionalism and speedy service is over the top. A-1 American thanks for providing great service.
I called A-1 with several plumping problems and an appointment was easily obtained. They arrived on time and we discussed the best options for my problems and a solution was derived. I felt that they did quality work, better than the new construction work that was originally done on the house. I did have my hot water tank replaced and I was pleased to see that they were using a product that was made in the USA. I didn't mind paying a premium on the tank over one made in China that surely wouldn't last 1/3 as long at best.
A-1 was able to come out the same day that I called to schedule service. I did have to call a few times to see what time they would be out, as I didn't receive any sort of window of time when I called to schedule. I was told that the technician would call, but, had to call back myself to prompt him to call me back. When the technician arrived, he was very friendly and able to identify and fix my problem very quickly. However, the price for what I was told was a simple fix seemed pretty high. Additionally, the technician quoted me a price for the service, and then I showed him a 15% off coupon that I printed directly from the A-1 website and I was told that the price he gave me was already discounted and so I couldn't use the coupon. If that's the case, I'm not sure why there would be coupons available that can't be used. In conclusion, the service was same day and quick, but, A-1 could communicate a little better and make sure their technicians are accepting the coupons.
Curtis Gregory came out and listened to what I beleived was my problem and reacted with respect and understanding. He found the problem ( a clogged main drain ) and gave me a price for the repair. I agreed and he cleared the pipe very quickly. A-1 American are not the least expensive plumbers in the area, but they get the job done right..
We were required to get a plumbing inspection (even though we just bought the place a year ago) by our property HOA. Needless to say, I was a little upset about it. However, A-1 American and Larry were great. Larry is great guy, we talked about sports, baseball, and obviously he did a great job. After he left I felt a little less bitter but I am still not giving my HOA a pass on this one! :-/ Oh, Larry got some Christmas Cookies too. It was a win win....
We had a large stoppage in our kitchen sink that went under the house and could have caused a major flood with the washer machine. A-1 sent Michael out within an hour on a Saturday, gave us a fair price and took care of everything while educating us also. Will tell all my friends about their good service!
I had a leaky kitchen faucet and the screws were so rusted in place I broke the first one trying to get it out. Not wanting to make things worse I called A-1 American. Larry and John arrived on time, determined the faucet was beyond repair, got and installed a replacement that was probably a better quality faucet than the original. From the time they first arrived until they left was only about 2 hours and the work area was cleaner than when they got there
Called plumber I have used for years and they couldn't come until next day for my clogged kitchen sink. I walked through my den and their commercial was on, so I waited for the number to pop up and called A-1. Curtis came out and unclogged the sink and found galvanized pipe all under the house that I thought had been removed 7 years ago when I had extensive work done to the house. It needed to be done right, so we told him to go ahead and replace it all with PVC, which he did. It's always a rude awakening when out of the blue things stop working properly, and he assured us that this work would solve our problems.
A-1 American Plumbing was the worst service providers that I have ever dealt with. Extremely expensive, they were deceptive to my wife and I, and would not respond or return phone calls or e-mails. I only wish I had researched this company before using them. I will NEVER use them again.
My heating unit stopped working on 12/26/2013. They sent a technician out and replaced the heatstrip contrator. I wake up this morning (Sunday) and the heater is not working. My fiancée called them to come out and they told him that since it is warranty work, the same tech would have to come out and do the repair. The tech was really busy and couldn't come out until tomorrow.
I called them back about an hour later. I was told the same thing, that the tech is responsible for the warranty work. I told them I disagreed because I had paid A-1 for the repair, it was A-1's name on the contract/receipt, the tech's business card, advertisements on TV and the internet and the one stating satisfaction guaranteed, 24 hours, Saturday, Sunday and Holiday service. I asked them to send another tech. The guy said he would speak with the supervisor and get back with me.
They called me back. He said that he spoke with the tech and the tech said that when he came out the first time he told us that we needed to replace the entire unit. THIS WAS A TOTAL LIE. I told them it was not true the tech NEVER said that. Also, the tech even wrote on the invoice everything else checked out ok. I told him I wanted to speak with a supervisor and was told he was unavailable because he was in church. I asked to speak to a different supervisor or that supervisor's boss and was told he was it. At this point I told them I did not want the original tech to service my heater because he lied and I did not trust him. He said he would send the supervisor a text and get back to me.
I waited over 30 minutes before I decided to call another company. the other company was polite and said would have someone out before 6pm today.
In my opinion, NEVER use A -1 American. YOU WILL REGRET IT. They do not provide 24 hour emergency service and their customer satisfaction guarantees and warratees are a joke.
I should have read all the reviews before ever using them. I also feel that someone should investigate them for false advertising.
Shawn was quick to answer my before hours emergency call. Even though I was a little frantic when I called, he put me to ease over the phone right away. He called when he was on his way, just as he said he would. Got here in hardly any time at all. He explained what the issue was, how he was going to fix it and what to do if it happens again in the future, and his recommendations if it happens again in the future. He didn't just come in, fix and run or try to charge us for something crazy. Went over all of the options. He was extremely helpful, polite and professional. Even my husband who is very picky had nothing but great things to say! Shawn and A-1 are our "go-to's" from this point forward.
I called there 24/7 hr phone number on Monday May 28th (which was a holiday)and talked to some man and I told him I need a new Gaspack unit! He gave me another number to call to leave a message. I called that number and it said Mailbox full. So I called the other number again and no one anwsered. On Tuesday I called the office and the Lady told me she will have someone call me! On Thursday I called again, same thing all over again! Today is June 11th and still no call! I have never had bad customer service like that before!!!

Jake arrived on time, inspected my stuff and proceeded to give me the best sales presentation I have ever seen. By the time he finished, all the questions I should have asked were answered and all of his recommendations made too much sense to do otherwise. He completed the work the next day and the new system works great.
Without a doubt A-1 is the worst company that has ever done any work in my house. They are deceptive, overpriced, they will take as much of your money as they think they can get and will not reply to e-mail or phone calls after. I only wish I had done my research before using them, I could have saved several hundred dollars using a different plumber

The heat index was 115 in my area and it got up to 90 degrees inside. Our 2 small children and my wife's cat were not faring well. The technician who came out was very polite and professional. A-1 American came out the day I called. The technician, Jake, was very knowlegeable and noted our old air conditioner was leaking freeon gas into the home, reason for our head congestion, sore throats and aches. We had priced a new air and heat pump and were pleased when Jake offered a large unit at much less than previous quotes. Jake was at our home early the next morning installing the new unit. Within minutes of installation, the house was already cool. We are pleased customers.
These guys are laughable; check out Angies List if you want the real story. They got the worse rated plumber award for the entire year! I am not sure how / who voted for the Va Pilot positive ratings, but I suspect it was family members of employees who were threatened to do so.

They told my daughter that a PVC toilet flange was against code and charged her 1300 dollars to replace it. Not only are PVC flanges code, they are the preferred method. I made the usual mistake of a DIYer...I overestimated my ability. On a late Saturday afternoon, I removed the control handle from my shower...water everywhere and I couldn't get the handle back on.
I called A-1, spoke directly to the plumber on call and explained my situation. Within 30 minutes, Bryan and his assistant were installing a new handle. They were polite, professional and efficient and left the bathroom spotless.
