What the community has to say about PS 7's

Information about this business (3)

The menu offers a smorgasbord of food trends, but stick to the minimalist dishes.

PS 7's is not just a unique name for a restaurant, it's also a unique eating joint. PS stands for Peter Smith chef and owner and 7 stands for the seven unique sections in the restaurant, each at different price-points. Once you are here, you can experiment with the chef's exquisite dishes like the Trio of Veal with barbecued ribs and molasses thyme veal jus, the sauteed loin with wilted baby...

Conveniently located in Washington DC's Penn Quarter neighborhood, PS7's has repeatedly been named one of Washingtonian Magazine's Top 100 Restaurants and Best Bars/Lounges. The Washington Post also ranked us a "Best Bet" for 2009. Our menu features Chef Peter Smith's playful take on Contemporary American cuisine, showcased in the warm, sweeping design by GrizForm Design Architects....

Editorial reviews from the web (4)

This restaurant manages to be at once swanky yet youthful, and its bar scene is hip but low-key, with inventive cocktails and nibbles like miniature Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches, spinach salad with tender chunks of bacon and fried onions, and an irresistible "nutty goat" flatbread. In the elegant sunken dining room the menu reads like a tasting menu, but the portions are hardly tiny. The diner...

THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED PS 7’s Restaurant Review

Playing with his food may be one of a kid’s happiest pastimes. So what happens when you find a very upscale restaurant owned and cooked for by a chef who also likes to play with his food? The answer is simple: sit back and have fun, too. One of executive chef Peter Smith’s biggest culinary triumphs may be his skill with curing his own meats: hence the menu mainstay of homemade hot dogs---small,...

Homegrown celebrity chef-in-the-making parades adorable food that's eager to please. Morels and foie gras ensure you can't make any of this at home. That and the red meat's never monogamous, preferring three ways. Cross-dressing cocktails and mini desserts titillate an otherwise reserved Washingtonian power class who power dress. Affected laughs warm the mod autumnal periphery but goldfish in...

Chef Peter Smith opened PS7's in 2006 after many years working the kitchen at the award-winning Vidalia . His culinary artistry is on excellent display here, but first you must navigate the fey menu, which organizes foods in categories of "Cool" (salads and such), "Hot" (soups and pastas), "Aqua" (fish), and "Terra" (meats). And though the portions are small, the food is rich and delicious. I...

This place is a hidden gem in Chinatown. Pete Smith's creative flair makes every dish an edible adventure. From the fun bar menu with a tuna tartar slider to kill for and a serious fine dining service in the dining room, this place is a can't miss for anyone's dining adventure in DC.

Every dish an innovative master piece. Great cocktail menu.

Bar has great happy hour but the restaurant is usually empty. They need a way to get the drinkers into the dining room.

4.5 would be my real vote....(by the way lets start a petition for .5 stars!)
The location of the restaurant is great its in a busy area but at the same time set back from a ton of hussel and bussel. When you walk into PS 7 you are immediately greeted by this amazing blue curved wall and I just could not take my eyes off all night! It was great!

I heard about this place from some of his foodie...

Modern atmosphere, creative plating.
