Help us make it rightCharlie Chiang's has been a member of the Greater Washington DC area for over 30 years. Charlie Chiang's has always served the best food in a generous and hospitable atmosphere. We've had the honor of serving our dishes to President George H. Bush at his inauguration, President Clinton at his reception at the Capitol, visiting international bankers at the annual China Trust Bank dinner, and...
This "sleek", "sexy" Asian restaurant/lounge with a "hip clientele" in Shirlington gets buzzy at its "awesome happy hour" on account of its "great drinks list" ("the craft-beer menu puts most bars to shame") and impresses with its "creative" Chinese-leaning fare, plus sushi; "accommodating" staffers love "what they do and it shows", plus the bill "won't chokeslam your wallet."
With serious modifications to the décor and menu, the former Charlie Chiang’s of Shirlington Village has become a classy Asian-fusion eatery. While longtime patrons may miss the former menu, they can still find their favorites with carry-out. But dining in assures the chance to tuck into some classics-with-a-twist. For one, the traditional “three cup chicken” becomes a lamb dish. Fried shrimp...
Food did not seem fresh
We made a reservation through Open Table and when we arrived the put us a the worst table right in front of the doors on a very cold night. We asked to be move and simply moved ourselves. They slowly cleaned that table for us to sit. Brought out appetizers/soups at the same time as the meal, except they didn't bring anything to one of our group of 4 for at least 10 minutes. He sat there without...
We were sat immediately. Our table was decently sized, and the decor was chic and appropriate with good ambiance set by the dim lighting. The restaurant was not packed but most of the tables were occupied. The atmosphere was overall quiet. The service was cut and dry but exactly what we needed as we had somewhere to be afterwards. Our food came out promptly, our table was cleared efficiently,...
Food was nicely prepared, fresh but bland. The kitchen may have over reacted to our request for "spicy, but not too spicy." Our tea was tepid, but quickly replaced with proper hot tea. Overall it was good but nothing remarkable.
If you use a Groupon don't try it on a Holiday. It' my fault i should have read the fine print. Overall it's better than your average Asian restaurant. Great if you a fan of country music, not sure i got the connection. Good vegetarian selection. Anybody need a groupon?
