What the community has to say about Pines Of Rome

Information about this business (2)

Authentic Italian cuisine with high quality ingredients.

Ask anyone who lives in or around Bethesda, Md about us. In a time where competition is fierce from corporate chains, we are one of the last of the old fashioned traditional Italian Restaurants left in the area. We have been an institution in Bethesda for over 40 years!! All thanks to the culinary genius of Head Chef/Owner, Marco Troiano, from Bari, Italy.

Extremely average meal, nothing special, not rushing back

We are from out of town visiting family in the area and had dinner here recently. Located on a little side street in the Downtown area, the place is very nondescript from the outside, if you weren't looking for it, you'd walk right past it. It looks really small from the outside, but inside, it's actually quite large and has...

You know you are in for a treat as soon as you walk in

If you are looking for atmosphere this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for delicious authentic Italian food you have found a gem. The minute you walk in the aromas put your digestive juices in motion. We had lunch here with our grandchildren, spaghetti and meatballs and pizzas. All so delicious we decided to bring...

Excellent Food & Ambience

We have been enjoying the food & ambience at The Pines of Rome for 40 years. Four generations of our family continue to dine at "Pines." For appetizers, the white pizza, sauteed mushrooms, red peppers, & fried zucchini are a must! In addition, we always order the side salad & spaghetti with marinara sauce. We always order the aforementioned. Regarding...

Dinner Meeting

Our organization needed a place to have a meeting. Pines of Rome was cooperative with a table away from other guests. The service was good. Bread was plentiful. The lasagna was very good, but not like a typical lasagna. It was more of a rolled up noodle in a soupy sauce. But, it was delicious! Overall, the restaurant looks like...

Disappointing

I had read the reviews for the Pines of Rome and I should have paid more attention to the specifics. For example, I should have tried the white pizza or the specials on the chalkboard but I didn't. Instead I ordered a spaghetti dish that was uniformly uninspiring; the meat was tough and even with adding salt and pepper (I...

If asked to envision an Italian restaurant, you'd probably picture this place: casual, full of families, and punctuated by red-and-white checked tablecloths. It serves pan-Italian food as Americans often crave it — cheesy, sauce-heavy, and dotted with meatballs. Still, it's an institution, and many regulars come back week after week. The menu is extensive, but you can't go wrong with one of the...

This restaurant offers a taste of Rome at a reasonable price. Its menu includes full entrees, family-style orders and pizza in a casual setting, without the frills of fine dining. Its lengthy table layout is divided into two sections and is perfect for accommodating groups and families.
