Barbecue for Cleveland Park; Industry Night Returns

MOUNT VERNON TRIANGLE— Celebrate Carnival at Hogo tonight. The bar will be offering Brazilian burger and drink specials, via Tom Brown's Twitter. [Twitter]

PENN QUARTER— Industry Night returns to Graffiato next Monday, and there's sort of a tattoo theme to the proceedings. Chefs involved with the book, Eat Ink, from Will Morris of Vermillion to Ed Witt of The Partisan, will make food and give...

Pulpo to Host Hula Girl, Rebrand

Cleveland Park restaurant Pulpo hinted at major changes to come when it lost its chef last month, including a potential pop-up event. Now, official plans for that pop-up are in place before the ownership rebrands the restaurant in the spring.

Pulpo will soon be the temporary home of Hula Girl Bar & Grill. Mikala Brennan, who runs the Hula Girl food truck, will take over the restaurant starting...

Dave Hansen Now Manning the Ship at Pulpo

Word came out today that chef Billy Klein has departed Cleveland Park's Pulpo restaurant for a gig with Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab. So what's the future look like for the Spanish restaurant?

Director of Operations Dave Hansen tells Eater he's re-donning a chef's jacket and tightening up the menu at Pulpo. Look for some additions on the more exotic end of the scale, like molecular...

This ambitious Spanish taperia in Cleveland Park serves a midpriced menu that runs the gamut from Iberian wine-bar classics to bites of newfangled molecular gastronomy; the interior aesthetic is loftlike and dimly lit, with exposed brick and an open kitchen overlooking several communal tables.

Green Hat Gin Guys Explain Why Gin is Number One

The first legal (a very important distinction) distillery in the District in more than 100 years is kind of a big deal. Inspired by the city's Prohibition history and the do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do attitudes of Congress, New Columbia Distillers named its gin after a bootlegger who provided the lawmaking men with a bit of a buzz. The distillery's Green Hat Gin is small batch with year-round,...

Hopefully the next pop up is better

My husband and I visited the Hula Girl pop up on Saturday night. Although we had reservations for dinner, we only stayed for a drink after EVERY wait person in the restaurant walked by our table after we were seated and didn't acknowledge us. After flagging down a waiter, we ordered a drink from a server who didn't make eye contact at all. The drink was good, but expensive. We left after that...

Crispy pork to die for

Crispy pork skin is phenomenal! You can't get enough of the malasadas. I want to go back for the loco moco. Although it's a little on The pricey side, quite understandable because it's a niche market and the location is very accessible in a chic neighborhood.

So Ono!

Hula Girl is a unique find. Get that taste of Hawaii and pretend you are there. Screens on the wall were of surfing rather than basketball. I wish is was not just a popup in Cleveland Park.

Spam Masubi

So happy that Hula Truck got a pop up!! Got a chance to sit down and enjoy the food I love from the food truck, but on a different scale & with a Blue Hawaiin drink! Enjoyed a few spam masubi's, kalua pork & cabbage, poke, and teriyaki steak & chicken. All delicious and great staff too!
