All of Overhead Door Residential Products have a built in reverse and photo cells by federal law. With photo cells the door will not even close if something is under it. Any malfunction in the reversing edge or photo cells would prevent the operator from closing. We are truly sorry for your issue but it sounds like the person that told you it wasn't working properly may not be a licensed garage...

Overhead door was great at first. They replaced my garage door and opener quickly and efficiently. I was in the Bank drive thru in Independence and the truck in the stall next to me was this company. I rolled my window down and asked him if they fixed garage doors. (Mine has been broken for some time) He said he did and followed me to my house and fixed on the spot!! Gave me a nice deal and was a very friendly guy, Darren.
