You will recognize this gothic Victorian giant as you drive into town from I-95 with non-descript Medical Center buildings on your right and state government buildings on your...
the old city hall was built in 1894. it was the first major construction project in the city of richmond after the civil war. this beautiful high victorian gothic building was designed by architect elijah myer. the old city hall is listed on the national register of historic places. today the old city hall is an office building and is open to the public during business hours.

This historic Victorian Gothic building was once Richmond's city hall and if features dramatic three foot granite walls on the outside and a three story painted cast-iron marvel on the inside.
