Novecento is a casual yet elegant bistro specializing in Argentine cuisine, style, and that old saying – Mi Casa Es Su Casa!
Since 1991, Novecento has brought the cozy cafe experience of Buenos Aires to Soho. Regional specialties include ceviche, atun a la sarten (sesame-crusted pan-seared tuna), and ojo de brife con fritas (Gilled rib-eye steak in a special sauce). In addition to our beautiful wooden bar, we also have a selection of fresh-brewed teas. Weekend brunch includes pancakes, French toast and huevos rancheros.
A varied menu of Latin comfort foods makes Caffe Novecento a great little melange of a bistro.
Billed as a "nuevo bistro," this Argentine eatery was the first of five throughout North and South America, and it caters to hungry SoHo shoppers, hip ex-pats, and worldly diners in search of good steaks. The atmosphere is casual and occasionally raucous (especially during the televised soccer games) and the food is authentically Argentinean, from the good stracetti---lean strips of filet...
Argentinean micro chain with outposts in both Americas, including Buenos Aires's own Soho, Las Canitas. South American families, Italian sculptors from the nabe, the odd polo player, and a crew of preppy Argentine I-bankers hit up the NY location. Savor an exquisite Malbec paired with rare milanesas. Meat lover's paradise. Hectic as hell when they screen futbol upstairs. Latin music keeps the...
The Scene
Club-style beats surging from sculptural speakers compete with the uproar from happy patrons at this Argentine meat market. Mustard-colored walls and a few lazy ceiling fans...
One of my favorite places in New York.
We had empanadas, and a selection of the salads. We enjoyed our food, which was well prepared and yummy. The steaks were good, well seasoned and cooked the the desired point. However we find it a bit too expensive for the offering. Empanadas were delicious, but if you consider they are street food in Argentina, they came at a steep price. Also the salads are a little overhyped (they mention...
Very good food and friendly service
The empanadas were excellent. The mixed grill was mediocre. The service was good. The restaurant is unpretentious.
Very nice quaint and servers were excellent. Marked as a favorite.

Meat mavens mingle at this "casual", midpriced SoHo Argentine steakhouse slinging a "solid", beef-focused menu via a staff that's "hotter than the food"; the less-impressed shrug "good, if unmemorable", but even they concede it's hard to beat "in summer" when the "entire front" opens up – order a "bottle of Malbec and enjoy the passing hordes."
Pair the simple, satisying fare with an Argentine malbec or Chilean merlot--both great values.
Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 5:30pm.
