Tidy rows of graves (some inscribed to unknown children), pay tribute to Union and Confederate troops who perished in the battles of Antietam and Monocacy.

As cemeteries go Mt. Olivet is in a unique class of having hundreds of years of history on it's grounds. A worthwhile spot to visit with a local guide to tell the stories of those who are buried there.

If you're into history - go here. If you're into genealogy research and you've got roots in Maryland... GO HERE. This cemetary has Francis Scott Key, a Civil War section, and other hidden gems. Wonderfully maintained and very serene. Worth the stop.

Went on a ghost tour walk and it was a great way to learn about the city's rich history. It's a beautiful cemetery and well maintained.

This cemetery is an impressive and important stop to appreciate the history and sacrifice. Stopped here on our way home from OC. The Francis Scott Key memorial was beautiful & gave us both goosebumps as we read the plaques & listened to the Star Spangled Banner play.
