Great location but be informed.
Like all apartments, this one has its pros and cons. The first major issued occurred a month or two before we were to move in. We were told that the apartment we agreed upon moving into was infested with fleas. We were assured that it would be taken care of before our move in date. As we got closer, they told us that even after several treatments the flea problem was so bad that painters couldn’t even come in to start preparing the place for the next tenants. Keep in mind we were moving from out-of-state, so not having an apartment ready was a huge inconvenience. When we arrived they had to give us a different apartment, with different floor plan options, and it wasn’t ready the day we arrived. We had to stay in the guest suite the first night. (This was provided to us free of charge). I will say that the leasing consultants in the office were as accommodating and nice as they could be about the situation.
One of the biggest issues we had, once moved in, was the noise of the people above us and, the last month, next to us. If you have stompers living above you, you will hear every single step they take. This was a problem because their schedule required one of them to get up in the middle of the night. Any music with bass was heard clearly through any wall. Again, we understand that apartment life is noisy and if you have a major problem with hearing your neighbors, apartment life is not for you. However, the particular people we had above us were horrible, and after we asked them once to please turn down the music they were even worse.
Another issue was leaky windows. After the first major rainstorm, we had large puddles in both bedrooms. The first time we reported it, they told us nothing could be done until the rain stopped and everything dried up (it rained for several days). So we went through several bath towels a day sopping up water. The maintenance staff came out and “sealed it” but it was obvious that did not work the next time it rained. This was repeated the second time we complained. They told us a few buildings in the complex had water problems. Finally a contractor came out and it was professional repaired, with no further problems. The apartment took care of getting a company in to professionally clean and dry our carpets.
The bathtub is a joke. It is really tiny and skinny, which is ironic because they have banners in the complex showing a woman soaking in a large tub to “relax”. Only a child could soak in the tub. Plus when showering you don’t even have room to put your elbows up to shampoo. We bought a rounded rod and installed it to give us more shower space. The toilet seat didn’t fit the toilet, so every time you sat down it shifted. This was very annoying and we went out and bought a new seat. Recycling was often overflowing and irresponsible residents would leave boxes and many unrecyclable items around the bin making it very difficult to even get to the container to dump recycling. Also the trash compactor broke at least three times while we were there and a large dumpster was placed in the street. This smells terrible in the summer.
Overall the rest of apartments are very spacious with decent appliances (our dishwater was crooked and the garbage disposal had to be fixed) but everything worked. Lots of closet space. We had a view of the pond, which was very peaceful. There is a HUGE difference between the buildings that have a lot of freeway noise and those that are quieter. The complex is literally next to the freeway. Our building had very little freeway noise but any building that faced the freeway got a lot of noise. It is super close to shopping – walking distance. We loved the location. They were very accommodating when we needed to end our lease early due to a job change. We came to a compromise that we felt benefited us, in light of the issues we had, and we were very satisfied with the outcome. The office staff was great, particularly Kim. They would good at keeping up the grounds and the doggie clean-up stations were stocked with bags and emptied regularly. We appreciated the pool and the gym. Both were clean and the gym has a lot of options. There are two computers for residence use 24/7 in the clubhouse but most evenings and weekends they are monopolized by kids and teenagers watching movies and playing on-line video games.
