Our party of 8 went and everyone enjoyed their dishes. We ordered the crab dip appetizer and the fried fish pieces appetizer and both were scrumptious. For dinner, I split the fried seafood trio--generous portions of fried fish, shrimp, a crab cake, and two sides. Everything was well fried and not greasy. If we were forced to dine at only one restaurant on Hatteras Island, day after day, every day, for weeks at a time, we would choose The Mad Crabber. Great steamed, fried and grilled seafood. The Mad Crabber Platters are the best on the island. We never order anything but seafood here, so no comment on their half dozen poultry...

Great Service, Food was just Okay

On our recent vacation to Avon we ate at the Mad Crabber multiple times during the week. The food was okay - nothing spectacular but not horrible. They had the same specials everyday that we were there; the only thing that changed was the soup towards the end of the week. Something tells me that it can't be fresh fish...

I went here on my honeymoon way back in 2008. The food was fantastic and the service was amazing. I recommend the she crab soup.
