A small and colorful gourmet Mexican restaurant that is run by two Bolivian sisters and features a menu where everything is made-from-scratch, including the sangria and margaritas. They are open Monday through Saturday for dinner only; closed on Sundays.

My favorite restaurant in Hampton Roads

Luna Maya is probably my favorite restaurant in Norfolk. Their thoughtfully prepared dishes stand head and shoulders above other Mexican-type food in the area (though technically, it's Bolivian). Drinks are great. I'd recommend the guacamole and salsa as an appetizer. I get the shrimp tacos for dinner. Though I wish they were a little cheaper, they're still worth every penny.

The ambiance is very cool. It's best for a date but works well for small groups too. Dim lighting and music make it feel very trendy and "big city."

The restaurant offers mexican but also offers Bolivian dishes
since the sisters that run it are of Inca ancestry. They have quesandilla
that are outstanding. But my wife loved the shrimp marinated
in garlic which came resting on a bed of fresh greens and salsa.

The deco in the restaurant is bright and inviting. The service
very good.

This restaurant is excellent. I have travelled to many countries,
lived in many cities, and eaten in many different Mexican restaurants,
and this is one of my favorites. The food is delicious and every
single person I met there was kind and seemed interested in one
thing; making sure I had an enjoyable evening. I highly recommend
Luna Maya. Tell them Tom sent you.

This is the absolute best resturant in Norfolk. The food is excellent
and it has a warm inviting enviornment. Carla, Vivian, and the
rest of the staff seem incredibly dedicated to making sure that
every meal you have there is excellent. Perfect for a date, a business
dinner, or just to go out to with friends.

Business Description from the Web

The concept behind Luna Maya in Norfolk was to bring authentic South American recipes passed down from family members to the general public. So far, the product has been a hit with locals and visitors and people can't get enough of this spicy and flavorful cuisine. Try some of the simple and traditional dishes like chorizo tamales or enchiladas de queso and you won't leave dissatisfied.

Luna Maya in Norfolk is not your typical Mexican restaurant. Its evident the moment you step through the cloth curtains at the entrance into the warmly lit orange room. Its even more evident after perusing the sophisticated and succinct menu. Ambiance is trendy; servings are hearty; prices are a bit above your usual Mexican restaurant, but worth it.
