In the 1880s, Lewis Ginter, a wealthy businessman, opened a resort on this land just northwest of Richmond. An avid gardener, he planted and cared for much of the foliage that still thrives in the park today. Yesterday was our first visit per recommendation of our daughter-in-law. The spring tulips and daffodils were absolutely beautiful. However, the orchid's were breath taking and definitely the highlight of the park. It appears that the gardens are somewhat arranged in a seasonal format, I love gardening, and for me it's a most see. We live in Fredericksburg and visit Richmond...

Took my mom to visit the gardens. It was a couple weeks before most of the flowers were blooming, but still very nice. The conservatory has some beautiful orchids. Also thee Tearoom is a very nice spot to get a bite to eat. There is also a cafe in the main building. There is also a children's garden.

Since its opening in 1984, this public garden has served as a place of study and display of plants. It consists of many different gardens, a garden shop, teahouse, garden cafe and library, to name a few. The Carriage House hosts educational activities for children and adults. Group tours are welcome and guided tours can be arranged.

The 24-acre Lewis Ginter Garden features an array of beautiful flowers and plants with natural paths and vistas. The garden uses varying landscape designs, seasonal displays and gardening techniques.
