We have visited the Lazy Dog 3 times. Make sure you think smokehouse when you think of this place. We have tried a couple of differant things on the menu with their smoked meats. We have been pleasantly surprised each time. Check it out, I think you will like it.
A run-of-the-mill atmosphere and menu. Chicken nachos were a pleasant surprise, as was the Southwestern salad, but not worth the $9+. Waitress was attentive and helpful. Excellent table service.
We were in Hickory to see the banned Maiden High School play, "Almost Maine". We thought the Lazy Dog looked interesting. The service was fair and the food okay-nothing great.
Nice little smokehouse and bar. During the daytime the restaurant boasts to be family friendly and it is until evening...then it becomes a saloon and nightlife establishment. Good food menu - nothing fancy. The usual TVs on the walls and more or less attentive servers. Good place - every once in a while.
Lazy Dog is one of our favorite places to eat when we come to Hickory for a baseball game weekend. The food is excellent. The staff is very friendly. The prices are reasonable.
