Nursing & Rehab Center
We have used three different nursing homes in the New Braunfels area and one in San Marcos over the years with my parents. I want to be fair on this because I think all nursing homes are motivated by profit, and that not necessarily bad. But, you need to understand that at times these facilities will be under staffed. I found the food at Kirkwood to be on par with…well, hospital food. It...
The staff @ Kirkwood Manor leave everything to be desired. My family member was very unhappy there because he never got his meds on time, in fact went to the nurses station to get his meds more than once. The food was horrible. All Kirkwood Manor cares about is the buck they bring in. Point in case, they discharged my family member because there was no way for us to pay the 142 dollar co-pay...
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONES IN KIRKWOOD MANOR!!!!! Nursing staff is lazy, incompetent and understaffed. Food is horrible and lacks any nutritional value. Our father was in Kirkwood a little over two weeks and hated every minute. He died in Kirkwood, don't make the same mistake we did. Look for a better facility.
My parent was sent here to die as well.

The facilities always smelled good (if you have looked around, you know what I mean...

All Kirkwood Manor cares about is the buck they bring in. Point in case, they discharged my family member because there was no way for us to pay the 142 dollar co-pay that I had told them up front we couldn't pay @ which time I was told not to worry about it, that the co-pay could be waived, it had been done before. I feel he was discharged because he complained and...
They weren't very understanding or caring, and they didn't show empathy for my situation. I could tell I wasn't their primary concern. They could've used quite a few more staff members. Before you make a decision to place a loved one in Kirkwood Manor PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW. My father was in Kirkwood Manor for 2 weeks and it was the worst experience for him and my family. My father had lung...
