Help us make it rightThe space formerly occupied by Kir Wine Bar has welcomed a new concept that keeps some of Kir's Francophilic spirit alive: Longtime farmer's market creperie C'est Si Bon has debuted in the intimate space, filling Kir's famous chalkboard menu with columns of sweet and savory crepes (available "traditionally" or with buckwheat), plus more than 30 wines by the glass and wine-appropriate...
DIVISION/CLINTON—In what's being dubbed a "preview" to the annual Wild About Game cook-off, St. Jack chef Aaron Barnett plays host to the next installment of the Portland Food Adventures dinner series next Tuesday, August 20. The dinner takes place in the usual PFA style — six course with wine pairings, plus gift certificates to the chef's favorite spots — but with an all-game theme...
Once considered one of the best wine bars in the country, Kir Wine Bar is closing it doors on Saturday night. The following announcement was made via Facebook on Thursday:
Friends! Kir wine bar will raise its last glass on Saturday August 17th. Thanks so much for years of good humor, good wine, and good friends. We are looking very much forward to the future and hopefully, a new home for...
Greasy spoons aren't exactly known for their stellar wine lists, but that doesn't mean you can't — or shouldn't — pair classic diner dishes with a drink that's a little more upscale. With that mind, Eater tapped six Portland wine professionals and challenged each to pair a glass with a classic greasy spoon dish (some, like Remedy Wine Bar's Dan Beekley, right, took one for the team and...

Perfect for date night or a drop-in glass of rosé off East Burnside (come summertime they have 10 rosés by glass) with a daily-rotating wine list and expert staff.
The food and drink is sublime. Mussels, Caesar salad. Crisp white wine. Yum. They'll help you pick the perfect match. It feels like a little bar in Spain. So dreamy. And delicious. Thank you Kir. We'll be back.
Pros
+ ambience, food, wine...
Date-night couples and globe-trotting Eastsiders with a palate for eclectic European wines drop by this intimate wine bar with alarming frequency. The draw: a relaxed, candlelit atmosphere, quirky, personable staff and selection of seasonally constructed small plates paired with wines you’ve never met before. Besotted patrons slide onto a stool at the L-shaped bar and skim a chalkboard menu...
I finally made it to Kir, and will definitely be back. It's right across the street from Oregon Artificial Limb - just a few steps from Burnside, but feels like another country. There was one great server, one chef making your snacks in the tiny kitchen, plenty of good wine on the list, and about five little tables. Dark and cozy; perfect for a date or crying alone.
Kir is sort of like some really nice cult, the sort you can visit and still be allowed to leave; the regulars are almost hilariously devoted to Kir’s admittedly crushworthy owner, Amalie, and to the notion that where they are is a secret somehow only they know.
This wine spot is hidden from view, tucked off Burnside on 7th avenue, the bar tiny and comfortingly wood-grained, the small plates...

The draw: a relaxed, candlelit atmosphere, quirky, personable staff and selection of seasonally constructed small plates paired with wines you’ve never met before. Besotted patrons slide onto a stool at the L-shaped bar and skim a chalkboard menu where the wines are listed--in pink--before letting the counter staff guide their selection. Hours and many glasses of wine later, they’ll finish their evening with decadent bread pudding or otherwise...

Save yourself the headache of finding parking and utilize Kirs little known lot on the corner of 7th and Burnside.
Youd be remiss not to order a small snack to go with your glass of Villa de Corlo Lambrusco or Love and Squalor Riesling. The selection of small plates from country pork and pistachio pate to a sweet corn soup are reason enough to visit this gem of a wine bar.
