We have been affiliated with Jeff Bateman's School of Karate for 3 years now and could not be more pleased. The previous reviews had bad information that can be verified by internet search. Sensei Susan Bateman is HIGHLY qualified to teach karate and I trust her implicitly with my children.

Parents are encouraged to attend lessons one week a month with their children and are more than welcome to watch all instruction (the dojo has one whole wall that is glass so everything can be observed). Kyoshi Bateman has an open door policy for all concerns and complaints.

Unqualified and cluless karate so call instructor

Typical husband/wife karate team. Usually the wife got a black belt from the husband so she can help out without knowing anything about martial arts. Sad, sad, typical karate school. Just take the kids out before they get hurt. This case gives martial arts a black eye.

Karate teacher charged with felony after kicking student

A karate instructor who teaches children in Hampton and Suffolk has been charged with felony child endangerment, after one of her students accused her of kicking him in the ribs more than 200 times, causing internal injuries, police said.

Susan Bateman, 47, turned herself in to police last Tuesday, said Suffolk Police Lt. Debbie George. She is an instructor at Jeff Bateman's School of Karate, which has studios in Hampton and Suffolk.
