On a trip to Florence, Italy in 1983, Il Giardino co-owner Tony Gargiulo spotted a wood-burning stove being used for baking and knew it should be the centerpiece for his new restaurant. That same oven ac the first of its kind in Virginia -- has churned out fresh foccccia and delicious to-order pizza as the cornerstone of the full-service Il Giardino ever since.
Founded in 1983, Il Giardino Ristorante is a restaurant that serves appetizers, entrees and desserts. The restaurant features a piano bar and lounge. We used to go here all the time and always loved it. We hadn't been in a while and decided to go back. It was like a different restaurant. They seem to have squeezed more tables into the room, the place was so loud, and the food and service were both not good. Our waiter decided to give his attention to a larger table, and we had to wave him down to get him. He acted like we were inconveniencing him being there. The food always use to taste fresh and homemade, but not anymore. My pasta dish was burnt in places and lacked flavor. My husbands veal was dry and overdone. We were not happy. I do not mind paying alot for good atmosphere, food and service, but we did not find it here.
Great food! I loved their piano bar. Their menu features veal, chicken, seafood, pasta, steak and a thorough list of appetizers. A great place to go while at the ocean front. The veal saltimbocca is the best in the area. I'll be back!
This restaurant is wonderful! I love the food as well as the pleasant atmosphere! The service is great also. After dinner we like to walk on the beach, making everything just perfect!
Dining out: Our fave foods of 2011.
Warm and vibrant spot that oozes with Italian charm.
My wife and I along with our niece and nephew were in town for a few days of R&R and not knowing the town well were well steered to visit Giardino. The exterior yells 50’s and 60’s at you, so you may hesitate, and once inside, the ambience is not much different – but in a very nice way. Brought back memories of the ‘Mad Men’ age! The food as far as the four of us were concerned was excellent,...
Uniquely expensive for an Italian place. Go for the twilight specials from 5.30 to 6.30, but certainly not worth the regular price for the marginal food and the rude service we got. They even messed up a simple "sauce on the side request.
A piano bar and dance floor are featured at Il Giardino add to the popularity of this Italian Restaurant. The menu includes a variety of fresh sauces, veal, chicken, seafood, pizza and more.
