Great Hummus, Affordable, Meditarrean Cuisine, Clean, Friendly Atmosphere

Hummus is one of the few foods that leaves you feeling satiated without spiking your blood glucose levels. It's tasty and nutritious, but also low in calories. Hummus is vegetarian dish, actually it's also vegan. Basically made up of 60 - 70% water, chick peas, Tahini (from sesame seeds) olive oil and lemon, it's considered a grain / legume, but if you eat it with bread it's actually a complete...

Those who like their hummus "silky" and their pita bread "fresh" and "warm" kvell over the kosher vegetarian offerings at these "popular" Israelis; though decor is nearly "nonexistent", service is "pleasant", the grub "filling" and the tabs "terrific."

Chickpea fanatics will appreciate the fine hummus served at this East village storefront in what has become a relatively tame St. Marks Place environment. You can have your healthy fill of puffy pita, pickles, and hot sauce here for remarkably reasonable prices.

Hummus Place Restaurant Review

Competing with dozens of other restaurants that flank this colorful street, Hummus Place manages to live up to its name. The five-table eatery specializes in---you guessed it---hummus. The hummus fava, a fava bean stew with aromatic olive oil and a sliced hard-boiled egg in the center, is a meal in itself; the hummus tahini includes olives oil and spices, good with pita bread and pickles. The...

Stuffed grape leaves, falafel, and enough variations of hummus to keep you full for weeks. Everything is under $10, served with a smile and great for a quick bite or a long meal, as no one is rushing you out.

Laid-back locals and hummus-lovers flock to this cheap-eats Mediterranean cafe.

Hummus Place  305 Amsterdam Ave./74th, (212) 799-3335.  L-D daily.  Delicious Israeli food is served up in this tiny subterranean spot and it includes even the famous attitude. Several different kinds of hummus are on the menu—if you are indecisive you can order a sampling of them—but Masabacha, made with whole chick peas remains my favorite.  Fava Hummus, made with fava beans and topped with a...

If you like hummus you'll love Hummus Place. The hummus is served warm and is plentiful. My favorite is the Hummus fava which comes with beans and a hard boiled egg. The baked cauliflower appetizer is also excellent and comes with an yummy parsley tahini sauce. For a meal in Manhattan this is a great value, a full satisfying meal...

A friend who is from the middle east told me hummus tastes better at home than here in North America. But I couldn't imagine how can hummus be delicious. But in this restaurant I discovered that hummus can be wonderfully satisfying with fresh pita bread. Try the one with mushrooms!
