I took my boyfriend to the Andaluz for his birthday. The staff was really friendly at first. I rented a room and had a few of his friends over. With having a few big boys in the room and only one small bathroom, I lit some incense. They charged me a $200 smoking fee. No where on the paper I signed did it say no incense or candles. It just said non-smoking, which I take as no cigarettes. I find $200 a bit extreme. My boyfriend said he will pay it but that's horrible for his birthday. On top of that the room we had was not in the best condition. The table had a big chip in it. The brown chair had white stains all over it. The couch was a pull out and had little staples sticking out and my boyfriend accidentally stabbed his finger on one. We talked to the manager about it and he pretty much said he could do something about it but wasn't going to. Needles to say we will never go back.

Walking into the lobby, I instantly new that this hotel wasn't usual chain hotel. There was such character with sitting areas throughout the lobby all with different themes. The hotel rooms were lovely and the staff was very considerate and helpful.

Hotel Andaluz is not only a wonderful place to stay, but they have history (one of the original Conrad Hilton hotels), and are a "green" hotel--they have their own solar water heating system, as well as some interesting automated energy saving heating and lighting systems.
