My husband and I bought a house and needed a complete install with new duct work and unit- it was a BIG JOB. Hobbs AC came out to our home and gave us different options that hopefully would work with our tight budget. With the amount work that needed to be done in my home and mostly during the hours, I also offered childcare, I had lots of questions. I loved that I could always depend on Jeff to answer my calls and give me quick answers, I never had to deal with service people or a receptionist. My husband and I couldn't afford all the work to be done at one time so Jeff worked with us and installed our heat last fall and just finished installing our A.C. last week. We thank God For Hobbs A.C.!!! because of them our family was able to have central heat and air in our first home.
We called Hobbs to come look at our office air conditioner and figure out why it was blowing hot air. Turns out it was an electrical issue, and of course I was worried about paying an electrician for another service call to come look at it. Fortunately Jeff (the owner) is also an electrician so he took care of it right then! A lot of other guys would charge for a second service call but Jeff saved us a couple hundred bucks by doing it all at once.
Since then Hobbs has been our go-to for HVAC and electric work at the office and at my house. Jeff and the other staff and very friendly, courteous, and most importantly they know their stuff. I've worked with other HVAC companies in the past and Hobbs cares about their customers more than any I've worked with for business or residential. None of the other companies are bad or rude - I just didn't realize what was missing until I found Hobbs.
They're a small company and it's nice to see that there are still guys like Jeff Hobbs out there who have the "mom and pop" attitude of great service and personal attention to getting the job done right. Hands down, I would recommend Hobbs to anyone looking for HVAC or electric work.

I called this business on Friday, June 8th at 9:00 PM about an issue with our air conditioning unit. I explained that our A/C had stopped producing cold air and now smelled like it was burning. The tech (who is the owner of the company) arrived quickly and began his evaluation. He found that the blower motor had stopped working and needed to be replaced. We were assured that this would fix the problems with the A/C not cooling. We paid $425. $225 just to get the tech out to our house and $200 for the blower.
Saturday, June 10th, we realized that our A/C was NOT working properly. It was still not producing cold air (which was part of the original complaint). We called around to different A/C repair companies who told us that the Freon levels should have been checked when the tech came out the fist time. I got back in touch with the owner of the company who's exact words were "I could have checked the levels last night, but I didn't" and he wanted to charge us ANOTHER $225 just to come out to check the Freon levels, which he should have done during the first service call. Keeping in mind, that the every other company we called, charged between $79-$99 for a service call. After hours and on weekends.
The owner decided he would come out and fix the problem on Monday or maybe Tuesday, but he wasn't going to come back this weekend. It's in the mid 90's here this weekend and we have a daughter with respiratory issues who needs a cool environment. When the owner refused to come out without us paying for another service charge we ultimately went with another company.
PLEASE do your homework and shop around. There are several, more reliable and way more affordable companies around Suffolk.
Jeffrey Hobbs was absolutely excellent! He arrived promptly, was able to replace our evaporator coil in our Carrier Air Handler System in 2 hrs (over half the time his competitors estimated). I have absolutely no complaints about his service (punctual, clean, careful!). Jeff was able to fit me in the same day I called, after he finished a previously scheduled job. Showed right on time that evening and diagnosed the problem to a an electric valve. He was able to find a compatable part the next morning, installed it that day, and our heat now works perfectly. Recommended.
