The Carson House built in 1793, once served as the home of Colonel John Carson and as the McDowell County courthouse. In 1964, it became a public museum and library; it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and prominent personalities like Andrew Jackson, Davy Crockett and Sam Houston, have stopped at the Carson House.

Welcome to the Historic Carson House! Come visit this beautiful upland plantation built by Irish immigrant, Col. John Carson, in 1793.

Since 2011, Historic Carson House has been providing Historical Society from Marion.
