Hanoi House sponsored the Maketto Test Kitchen at their restaurant. This fixed menu, seven course dining adventure was incredible. Food was exceptional, service was attentive and friendly. Hands down a great dining experience. Looking forward to them opening their permanent restaurant on H Street NE later this Fall.

We went for the Maketto test kitchen. The food was decent but it was a one shot deal for me for sure. I gave it four stars because you get a lot of it for the money. The prix fixe is $30 for 7 courses.

If Maketto's purpose of its pop up at Hanoi House was to use as a lab to test out recipes for the first time, they've succeeded. The 7 course meal was fine at best. While $30 for 7 dishes is not a bad deal, it's not something I would try again. There was 2 dishes that I enjoyed. The mapo tofu was offensive. Rather than developing the complex spice levels and flavors that makes mapo tofu great,...

Nice ambience, good service, mediocre food

The restaurant is sleek and hip, and the service is good. The staff are patient and answer lots of questions about the drinks and food.
Dinner is prix fixe, 7 -courses, served family style. $30 per person, plus additional charges for extra dim sum. Add drinks (not that cheap), tax, tip, and it's easily $50-60 per person. Not outrageous, but...
