A century after it was built in 1908 -- and after stints as a farmhouse, B&B, and apartments -- Dava Parr bought the blue two-story place on the outskirts of Paonia and turned it back into a one-of-a-kind B&B. With hammocks and swings and a trail leading to the top of nearby Jumbo Peak, the inn's pastoral setting a little over a mile from the center of town melts into farmland, and Parr even...

The Green Onion Restaurant Review

Despite a name that sounds like that of a vegan haven or a trendy latch-on to the wholesale (though laudable) greening of America, The Green Onion is an eclectic bistro with both Euro-centric and contemporary American sensibilities. The name is emblematic of this cool, cosmopolitan eatery’s value on freshness and budding professionalism. While there is ample fare to sate non-meat eaters, such...

This bistro-style storefront restaurant with a display kitchen in the rear isn't the fanciest place to dine, but the chef mixes flavors in exciting combinations, such as sautéed scallops finished with a sweet corn and snow pea sauce. Meat lovers can opt for steaks, and vegetarians always have choices here. There are a few tables out front on the sidewalk.

My family and I went here for Easter Brunch, and it was wonderful! I had the corned beef and hash with scrambled eggs which was amazing. My mother had the scramble. My father had one of the specials called Eggs Woodhouse which consisted of french toast, ham, bacon, poached eggs, hollandise …

Food is good. I had the cheese grits, French toast and sausage. My friend got a spinach omelet and the chicken on a biscuit. Service was great and the waitress was friendly. I could not give 5 stars because the chefs in the back are rude. They should be mindful of what they say since the kitchen is …

My husband and I love this place! The menu has lots of great options (all of which have been amazing so far!) and a nice wine list with prices that aren't too crazy. The service has always been good and the cheese menu is to die for! We have already been a few times and will definitely be going back for many more date nights!

Business description (4)

The Green Onion has a couple of locations in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia that provide customers with casual bistro style eating options. The menu features cedar plank salmon, filet mignon, sauteed diver scallops and veal osso bucco.

"Creative bistro-style menus in a modern and chic atmosphere."

A funky atmosphere and a chic decor make the Green Onion a cool spot to find yourself, but the exquisitely prepared food and drink menu make it a great place to eat. The Green Onion offers a wide variety of food options, even vegetarian dishes for the herbivores and a delightful Sunday brunch equipped with mimosas and sangria.

Great food in a comfortable intimate setting.
