Green Man Brewery in Asheville NC. Recognize.
If I was writing this review after my first visit, it would be a 5 out of 5. It was really busy, but had such a great energy. I loved the beer. The second time was a little less impressive. The beer was still okay, but they had just built that monster Green Man mansion right down the street. I don't love that place at all. Just doesn't fit with the Asheville scene. The OG place is still nice,...
This is the original Green Man Brewery “Dirty Jacks” it’s very green inside and has 10+ Green Man beers on tap. They have lots barrels stocked in this place and still brew a little in there as well.
I first stopped in the original building first. Smallish bar area that could seat about 6 folks. Some brewing tanks were visible. There was an outdoor seating area with a wide variety of different furniture. There were about 10 beers on draft, and the ones I had were good but not overly impressive. Then I walked to the newer building which has a big open ground floor area and plenty of tables...
It's basically a rectangular box, with chintzy, kitschy admonishments that skew granola-crunching hippy (lumpy couch, bikes, etc.). It's loud, and the clientele were rowdy and frat-broey when I was there. The servers didn't seem to know too much about beer, and the tap list was surprisingly short for a brewery. Beer is decent.
Large, multi-level, architecturally interesting, new facility with an impressive range of quality beers. Beer to go available on the ground level. I have not tried food yet.
