What the community has to say about Freemason Abbey Restaurant

Information about this business (10)

Located in a 135 year-old renovated church, Freemason Abbey Restaurant has been a locals favorite in the heart of downtown Norfolk for over 18 years. Our atmosphere is elegant - yet casual so there is no need to feel under-dressed. We pride ourselves on reasonable prices. Many restaurants today do not include salad and side dishes in the price of the entree... we do! We appeal to not only those...

Horrible

They must be going downhill. Horrible food- disgusting and they would not exchange it! Overcharged, dated decor and just bad customer service! We will never go back~ too bad a better restaurant couldn't take over the cool building!

The restaurant is very beautiful and unique inside, but very noisy. If you are looking for a quiet dining experience this is not the place. Food was ok, but not the quality I had expected.

Me and my wife had brunch here 9/30/07 and I was fully satisfied. Not many places around can make Eggs Benedict properly, but Freemason Abbey is on par! Great service, extremely reasonable prices—I was very surprised. I cannot recommend Sunday brunch here strongly enough. Please do give it a try at least once!

This former church near the historic business district has been drawing customers for a long time, and not without reason. It has 40-foot-high cathedral ceilings and large windows, making for an airy, and dramatic, dining experience. You can sit upstairs, in the large choir loft, or in the main part of the church downstairs. Beside the bar just inside the entrance is an informal sort of "diner"...

Editorial review from Citysearch

Just bad! Horrible food, customer service, and my family ended up getting sick later- I can only recommend to others to stay away!

Everything our group ordered was delicious. The standout dish was the chicken cordon bleu pasta. That sauce was outstanding. The she crab soup was also a standout. Would recommend this place to anyone in the area.
