Help us make it rightThis is a great restaurant in a charming location. I work in downtown Portsmouth and we eat lunch here at least once a week. My friends love the crabcake sandwich and my favorite is the black and blue wrap. The crab dip is awesome also!
My wife and I love this place. Great beer selection on tap! The food is always outstanding, I prefer the Black and blue tuna wrap. I also get a cup of the she crab soup. I think I've had everything on the menu and Ive never been dissapointed. And its all tucked away in a nice quiet neighborhood. Definitely a great place for a relaxing upper casual meal.
We have eaten here five or six times over the six months. The atmosphere on the outside deck is great when they have an acoustic guitarist playing. The downside is the owner installed a flatscreen tv outside and insist on playing the tv and and mood music at the same time. The last time we ate there, we were bombarded with a Saturday night football game and a Elton John CD at the same time. The owner refused to play one or another even at our request. That was probally the last time we will eat there. The food is marginal at best. Hamburgers and fries are ok but go somewhere else if you want a nice meal. Last time we ate there, I ordered the $9.00 shrimp cocktail. I got six soggy shrimp in some heinz cocktail sauce. I ordered oysters that night and they were terrible. My wife's meal was a disaster also. If you eat here, expect a decent hamburger and fries and not much more. Don't go expecting upscale dinning!
This place is okay when it's open! It seems like they close whenever they feel like it.The food is good but they are always out of something. It's right on the water so it's great for a summer dinner. They have a small deck.I would give this place four stars if they were more reliable.
This restaurant could be quite charming and has a great location on the waterfront. However the staff has no idea of what to do to run a successful restaurant. When we arrived on a Saturday night and there was only one other table of guests, we should have realized that there were problems. The patrons at the bar greeted us...
Four of us went to the flagship for happy hour on a Thursday afternoon. The view of the water was nice and we ate outside. The Oysters Rockefeller were $6.50 for a dozen delicious oysters in June. The beers at $3.00 were fine. The half priced calamari and the fried oysters were good.
It is not the cleanest restaurant in...
Went on fish taco night and they were adequate but nowhere nearly as good as San Diego. No beer on tap that night. Bummer. Service was good.
Went here with some friends around lunch. Food was awful. Hushpuppies were way over-fried, little taste. Crab cake sandwiches were broiled, super dense and a bit soggy. Bland taste and very "gamey" almost as though it was the frozen fish/crab meat combo that is often used to save money. There was one waitress for the entire place. Took too long...

The revamped 40s-vintage restaurant is one of the oldest continuously operating restaurants in Hampton Roads. Close to the water but viewless, it has a below-decks nautical air and a regional menu. Roving restaurateur Peter Pittman has installed Southern-flavored specialties in place of the traditional seafood of its past. Look for game stew, pumpkin bisque, salmon with fruit chutney, steak,...
