Help us make it rightBuilt in 1817, the Farmers Bank is one of the oldest bank buildings in America. Upper floors have rooms where the cashier and his family lived and contain period furnishings that reflect the living conditions of the people who worked there. One of the most interesting features of the bank is its original safe, kept in the cashier's office. The safe was lowered through the floor to the vault at...
Nice little museum in the Middle of Petersburg. Although there isn't a lot there, (and I didn't take more than 1 photo) I was greeted by a woman who gladly showed me around the building and it's...
This is an amazing example of life in the early to mid 19th century. Perfect place for a Visitors Center, close to the original buildings =this is the real thing not a reproduction like other 'historic towns'. The staff here are very helpful.

The staff embraced us with traditional Southern hospitality, graciously giving us an informative guided tour of the building...
The representative here was very, very helpful Many movies are made in Petersburg including the recent 'Lincoln.' While we were there Tom Hanks was in town to produce a new film.
I see there hasn`t been a review in nearly a year. Just say the tourist office people who occupy the bank are just as helpful as mentioned previously. The brief tour of the bank that failed nearly 150 years ago (too heavily invested in Confederate debt instruments) was interesting and informative, and is perhaps a lesson to bankers today.

One of the oldest bank buildings in the United States, this historic bank contains accommodations on the upper floors for the bank cashier, as well as the bank's slaves, and visitors can also see the heavy safe that was once kept in the cashier's office.
