In an old brick warehouse down on one of Portsmouth's most charming streets, the Dolphin serves traditional New England seafood dishes -- some of them dressed up in new ways, such as a mushroom-crusted filet of cod or a piece of salmon "lacquered" in tomato-y balsamic vinaigrette and then grilled. But the Maine lobster potpie hasn't changed since, well, probably 1700, and you can also get...
Live jazz, classical guitar, and low-key rock is offered most evenings Tuesday through Sunday.
Went here for Valentine's Day and ordered off of the special menu. $50 for a 3 course meal and champagne toast. Overall, the food was really really good and we enjoyed the night accompanied by some live music. Our only complaints were some very strong mixed drinks that were $14 and not worth the money. However, food and atmosphere were great!
We had a delicious dinner at the dolphin catcher. The pre-set, three course meal included a complimentary champagne toast and was some of the best food I have had in a while. The one down side was that there weren't any dairy-free dessert options for my fiance. I would highly recommend this resturaunt and we are already planning another trip back.
Food was good though not amazing. Nice and very generous cheese plate. Dinner started odd with a weird scented candle that was sort of nauseating. Was put out on request. Nice house wine. Cozy atmosphere. Fine service. Overall it was good but not great.
Good food, great service. Rated the noise level as moderate because we were the ones making all the noise.
Started in the downstairs tavern where the manager and bartender were engaging and quick to serve
