Always makes me smile; pulling out a record purchased from Deep Groove, it still smelling like Nag Champa. Jay and Chris run a good program here: more often than not, something cool in the far wall (less than $10 used) and enough new releases to keep you coming back. Chris will order anything you can't find in store (including importing German techno records I can't find offhand.) Support them.

This place is pretty awesome :-) Its small in nature compared to Plan 9 BUT offers a more intimate setting. During a great sale, you can rummage through old records for 25¢. The owner definitely keeps me coming back as well. He sometimes takes from his own collection to supply the store...so he offers first …

Always manage to have a great time when I stop by. Staff is friendly and always has something informative, helpful, or just plain fun to say about my purchases (maybe I just have impeccable taste, but...). Anyway, stop by Deep Groove if you love vinyl like crazy, like I do! They will not disappoint.

If you're a tourist or a dork who knows nothing about vinyl, maybe this is the place for you. Overpriced. The owner was less than helpful when we brought in our turntable for advice to repair it. Ended up turning around and went to Plan 9 where they were extremely helpful! And spent $200 and left satisfied!

If you want to be reamed a new a-hole trying to sell your valuable records then this is the place. I brought in a pile of GREAT Lp's worth $20-40 each, all in minty condition and was offered $2 each. Beware. Try craigslist before you waste your time with most of the record stores in Richmond.
