What the community has to say about Cumberland Brews

Information about this business (3)

Cumberland offers a fine selection for a small two brew kettle pub. This shotgun style bar now has opened up the upstairs which is very elegant and homey. One can grab a recliner, sit beside the fireplace, and enjoy one of these hand-crafted brews in luxury.

Cumberland Brews is a locally owned and operated brewpub in The Highlands. We provide quality beer and food to the neighborhood as well as the entire city of Louisville. Our staff of bartenders, servers, cooks, and brewers value customer service and existential conversations every now and then.

On one of the most bustling blocks of the always-bustling Bardstown Road corridor, Cumberland Brews serves up tall pours of craft-brewed beer and healthy helpings of Southern-fried comfort food. Brews range from traditional English-style classics to decidedly experimental stuff like a pale ale spiced up with a hit of Yerba Mate. To eat, fried fish sandwiches and cheeseburgers go great with a...

The lagers and ales are first-rate and the food matches the beer, bite for sip. You can order spicy Buffalo wings or sweet honey wings, but for a real treat, get the Jamaican jerk wings marinated in lime juice and jerk spices instead. The… Read More

Review: Cumberland Brews

So the other night at Cumberland Brews I order the "spicy gazpacho."The waitress says, "I want to warn you that it's really spicy.""Sure," says I. And just to be sure she understands the precise sentiment I'm trying to convey, I go through a whole sequence of motions: a dismissive waggle of the hand, a contemptuous roll of the eyes, and a knowing grin. After all, I've heard such warnings many,...

The space is small, but both pint and plate flavors are big and varied in this Bardstown Road brewpub.

Cumberland Brews Restaurant Review: Cumberland Brews’ carefully crafted pints of American pale ale, nitro porter and even seasonal mead pair well with a surprisingly diverse menu that puts a foodie spin on pub grub. The spicy lime-and-honey-scented Jamaican jerk wings are so good you’ll dream about them. Recommended sandwiches are the fried fish on rye and the ever-so-lean bison burger. (Do add...

Brewer Matt Gould keeps a half-dozen house beers on tap at any given time. And since the entire brewhouse is visible through the glass wall behind the dozen-seat bar, tiny Cumberland Brews might suggest the term nano-brewery Pale Ale is true to type. But the food may be even better than the beer. Instead of standard Buffalo wings, you'll find Jamaican jerk wings marinated in a jazzy combo of...

Excellent beer, good food

We tried the bourbon beer (great), the Nitro Porter, and the IPA. All were good, but the bourbon beer is recommended if you are from out of town (like we were) and haven't had this before. Fried green tomato tacos are another unusual item that tasted great.

A "misSteak" Where apathy ruled the day

While searching for a place to grab a quick meal we happened upon Cumberland Brews a small bustling pub on Bardstown road in Louisville. We ordered a chile and the special of the day steak and French fries and a beer. The beer, chile and fries were good but the steak was pretty close to impossible to cut. ..Really really...

Affordable quality KY craft beer

After my 2nd visit, I felt the need to post a good score for this establishment. There's a lot of good beer finally being brewed by locals in KY. Not only does this place produce good beer, but also sells it at a price that will make you come back again and again. I went out of my way to...

Good eats and mead

Very good brews but regardless of how many I have I always get a headache the next day. The mead is a must try if they have some on tap! The food is great and large portions for the most part and the quesadilla of the day is always a win if you don't know what to get. They fill...

I have been here many times and have never had a bad meal or beer. Make sure to get anything on special including beer.
