There are a lot of trails for walking, running or biking here. Scenic views and ponies! We didn't see any up close during our visit but did see a herd having a morning snack in the fields. We loved climbing the lighthouse and the views from the top.
Beautiful area. Windy but peaceful day. Wasn't crowded. Was able to see many wildlife. The greatest were the ponies. Definitely walk the trails but always scan your area for the ponies. Beautiful wildlife preserve, but like any park with wildlife, it’s unpredictable what will be seen. I’ve visited this twice, one time saw quite a bit of wildlife, this most recent trip I saw very little. Did see a couple of the wild ponies in the distance and a few shovelers, not much else. Chincoteague Wild Life Refuge was a great place to visit with our young daughter. She loved seeing the wild horses!
We enjoyed the trails and wish we could have extended our trip to spend another day in the park.
