Where to Order Steak Frites

Belgium and France are well-known for bringing their culinary traditions of rich, heavy cooking to the rest of the world. But think beyond waffles, crepes and croissants. The real hero here is steak frites, the European equivalent of the classic American meat and potatoes meal.

From quiet neighborhood cafes to buzzing bistros, these Washington restaurants can satisfy even the most serious of...

Hilton Bros Take on Georgetown with New Chez Billy

Chez Billy is getting a sister restaurant. The Petworth neighborhood favorite is being re-imagined as Chez Billy Sud, which Eric and Ian Hilton plan to open in Georgetown this August.

The restaurant will open in the former Cafe La Ruche space at 1039 31st St NW. The "Sud" comes from the fact the restaurant is south of the original restaurant. It will feature Southern French cuisine, with...

Cajun Style: Where To Get Boudin Around Town

Boudin may be a traditional Cajun sausage, but Cajuns don't have a monopoly on it. Also known as blood sausage, morcilla in Spain, botifarra in Catalonia, and a host of other names, many European cultures have their own take on making boudin their own. Not to be confused with andouille sausage, which is smoked, boudin is (usually) filled with rice, meats, garlic and spices. Sometimes others...

Food was good, but lacked variety. Desserts were mediocre. Service was bad, waitress forgot to put our order in multiple times and overall the staff was unenthusiastic. We will not return.

This was my first visit to Chez Billy, and I will definitely return. The food was well-prepared and delicious. My friend had the salmon, and I had the trout, and we were both delighted with our selections. I was disappointed that my first choice for a bottle of wine turned out to be unavailable, but the recommended substitute was very good. We shared the Paris-Brest for dessert, and loved every...

Tasty brunch

We enjoyed the brunch at Chez Billy. We went on Mother's Day with our 2-year-old. The place is kid friendly and had tasty food. The service was a bit off (simple things, like we never got our coffee). But otherwise the food was good and the place is a nice joint to hit up with kids. I'd be curious to try other meals there.

We've been to Chez Billy several times now and have always enjoyed it. I always have the Daube -- which is actually short ribs; they're always tender and delicious. My husband had the duck, which he enjoyed. We shared a smoked trout pate appetizer that was delicious. They also serve delicious bread. We were a bit disappointed that out entrees came so fast; no time to chat and settle in. I also...

Great date night

Chez Billy was great for a special occasion date night. Food was spectacular, and the portions weren't too big or to small. The steak frites was incredibly juicy, and the trout was excellent as well.
