Carpenter Center for the Performing Arts

Carpenter Theatre, a restored 1928 motion-picture palace, is now a performing-arts center that mounts opera, traveling shows, symphonic music, and ballet. It's the cornerstone of the Center Stage Performing Arts Complex, which also boasts a more intimate venue, Rhythm Hall, for local performers, the Gottwald Playhouse, and a visual arts space called the Showcase Gallery.

Looking for opera or theater in Richmond

This lovely venue in downtown Richmond is a wonderful place for opera lovers; the adjacent Gottwald Theater is an intimate space for my favorite theatrical group, Quill Theater. Nice restaurants within walking distance, parking lot available.

Front and center....no view of stage

So excited about buying tickets for the Nutcracker Ballet third row from the stage center but the seats are not staggered or higher than the row in front so I spent the whole show ducking back and forth to even see the stage. Irritating for...

The renovated art deco movie theatre provides the best place to view ballets, musicians, comedians. Not only is the decor very interesting but the acoustics are great.
