Editorial reviews from the web (1)

"Connemara" is the farm to which the famed poet and Lincoln biographer moved with his wife, Lillian, in 1945; he lived there until his death in 1967. Guided tours of their house, where Sandburg's papers still are scattered on his desk as if he had just left, and 12,000 of his books are on bookshelves, are given by National Park Service rangers. Parking is a distance from the home but it is a very pleasant walk and not strenuous.

Gorgeous spring day with the forsythia ablaze. Since cars are parked at the bottom of a fairly steep five- to ten-minute walk, the climb up may tax those with breathing or knee issues. Easy to moderate trails around the lake or all the way to the top of the mountain. Beautiful grounds and views. Do not miss the goat barn. In the spring the baby goats are so cute.

My wife is an English major and is "into" literature. She was delighted with the tour and I was too. Depending on the season you go here, the lake and leaves provide excellent photo opportunities. Don't miss visiting Connemara.
