I got lost in downtown Raleigh yesterday! When I saw this place with its ""hot plates"" sign on the window, I knew I had fallen into something. Talked my office into ""exploring"" with me today. This is a place you would not ordinarily stop at. It says ""ICE MARKET"" on the sign. This place is as good as it gets! We had an amazing lunch of steak sandwiches, homemade french fries and homemade pound cake today. Reasonable and delicious. I polled the many customers in the place and they were all regulars and said I could not go wrong with anything. The hot plates included...

Everything I have tried so far has been great; just plain good food. From the cheeseburgers to the plate lunches to the homemade poundcake, this place is a winner. The owner and staff are very nice and courteous.They have takeout menus and you can call and have your order ready for pick-up when you arrive. It is close to all things downtown. It is one of Raleigh's best kept secrets.
