Help us make it rightThis church which has been restored is not an official part of Colonial Williamsburg but is very much apart of it's history. The docent was very informative and welcoming. Worth the visit
We were excited to find an evening event at Bruton Parish Church. American composers were featured in the choir's Sunday evening song service. It was fun to imagine our founding fathers worshipping in the same church. There are other concerts available. We were sorry to miss the cello/harp concert.
The rector of this church, Dr. Goodwin, is responsible for the vision of restoring Williamsburg and for getting Mr. Rockefeller to share that vision. It is an active church still with almost 2000 members. It has a series of free concerts in the evenings, usually three times a week, which feature the church organist and/or visiting musicians. We have visited here when docents were absent. This time wehad an excellent docent that gave a wonderful history talk and status of the current parish.
This Church is still an active and functioning congregation. The docents were eager to share the history and stories behind the church's connection with Williamsburg. Well worth a stop.
Bruton Parish Episcopal Church is located at 331 Duke Of Gloucester St in Williamsburg and has been in the business of Religious Organizations since 1674.
