Editorial reviews from the web (3)

With more than a dozen beers brewed on the premises, a menu featuring locally grown and organic produce, plus a bright, airy dining room and outdoor patio, Frederick's original brewpub is a crowd-pleaser that draws families, local office workers, and a Happy Hour crowd. The Germanic brews include an award-winning golden Kölsch, a spicy Hefeweizen, and a malty Maibock. Try the upscale twists on...

"Upscale pub grub" and "terrific" house-label microbrews make this "family-friendly" "fixture" in Downtown Frederick a "go-to" spot whether you "dress up or dress down"; the staff is "passionate about their food and drinks", and the airy, stained-glass-trimmed digs (it's located in an old municipal building/opera house) further the "great value."

Regular pub fare here is consistently good, but the specialty wood-fired pizzas are especially creative -- try one topped with barbecued chicken. Beer is brewed on the premises, including the 1634 Ale designed for Maryland's 375th anniversary in 2009. It's a very popular place; on busy weekends, the wait for a table can be long. In warm weather, the sidewalk patio is delightful.

Crabcake's

Brewer's Alley has great beer and food. We discovered the wonderful crab cakes they make and now have them every time we visit. We think they are the best we have ever had, and we have had them in many great restaurants.

Very Good for What it Is

We tried Brewer's Alley for the first time; and we were not disappointed. If you want fancy surroundings and "fine dining", this is not for you. But, if you want good food, prompt and friendly service, and a comfortable atmosphere - Brewer's Alley is the place to go. The menu was varied, and everything we ordered was good. The servers,...

Brewery food, Ok for the area

This place was fine. Nothing to knock your socks off, I've eaten at better breweries. But the place was clean, fun, and the food was ok. Plus, it's right on the main street of town, so the location is great! The wait staff is great, and the manager was seen walking around checking on things, which I think is good.

The Go-to place in Frederick

Brewers is the greatest all around place in downtown Frederick, especially for that typically picky friend. Not everyone will do "exotic" tapas bars or pricey wine rooms. Brewers always has a good burger, pizza, or constantly updated specials, and of course, house brewed beer. Their bar has one of the better selections in town for us whiskey lovers. Upstairs room...

It was okay

It would have been excellent but it seem that the servers didn't really want to take my table. First i was offended but a nice young guy took care of my table (i was on a date) and everything was good from there. I made sure i left him a very big tip.

The name itself is taken from a page of history. Brewer’s Alley was located on what is currently South Court Street. Beer Production ceased in 1901 when a large fire consumed the brewery of John Kuhn, who was the last in a long line of brewers to occupy space along the banks of Carroll Creek. For over 153 years, from the very beginning of Frederick County, Brewer’s Alley was a fixture in the...

Whatever you say about Frederick residents, don't say they don't know their fermented beverages. The first brewpub in Frederick County serves such thirst-quenchers as kolsch, India pale ale, nut brown ale, oatmeal stout and hefeweizen. There's also plenty of good grub for soaking up all that liquid. The menu includes a jalepeno cheese-stuffed soft pretzel, pulled pork barbecue, oyster po' boy...

Brewer's Alley is a American, Pub Food, and Bar Food restaurant where most Menuism users came for a family meal, paid between $25 and $50, and tipped between 15% to 18%.
