Before 1972 the property was a Marina and Fish house. In 1972 Pat and Betty Ann Ricks opened Blue Petes. It was a small pla...ce with seats for about twenty people, a bar, country music, fish bait, beer, Pool table, sandwiches and a beautiful setting right on Tabernacle Creek. The restaurant has grown over the years. Its goal still is to provide a variety of good, fresh seafood and great...
Went on Sun.Aftnoon, ordered seafood platter, horrible, 2 scallops sm & dried up, fish over cooked, dry, sauce no taste, pitiful. Friend ordered seafood souffle, watery, no seafood in it -sent it back, flour seemed to be added and it tasted horrible. First time but will never go back, waitress was excellent. Want more flavor? Golden Corral would have been better.
Blue Petes was great! We came down for the week and stayed in sandbridge beach. We went to Blue Petes 4 times that week and every time it was fabulous! The kids loved playing out on the patio and feeding the very large fish. Us adults had great drinks and great food! The staff was as friendly as can be and we enjoyed every moment at Blue Petes!
What should have been a wonderful birthday celebration turned into a sad demonstration of mediocrity. Our first reservations were lost but we recovered by making new ones the next day. Our table was sat with our party's first arrivals, but the rest of us were told our table would not be ready for 20 minutes, even though the restaurant was empty. Luckily after about 10 minutes we found our friends on our own. Poor service, warm white wine, no air conditioning on a 90 degree night, and crab cakes from somewhere in China made the evening a memory for the ages. We talked to Rocco about how our evening was going fairly early in our trials but nothing seemed to get better. They were even out of their signature sweet potota bread. I guess my only advice is that if you want to take the scenic drive to Pungo for a nostalgic dinner from days gone by, stop at Pungo Pizza and don't bother going all the way to Blue Petes. It was a birthday I won't forget. At least I had great company to enjoy!
Seafood is the specialty at the restaurant that offers private parties, buffets, and banquets.
Hands down, Blue Pete's is my family's favorite restaurant in Va Beach. Some of our favorite food choices include the brisket dip, seafood pasta, tuna burrito, and tuna bites (the wasabi sauce might bring you to tears, but we kinda like it like that!). Once warm weather hits, we will boat to Blue Pete's at least 2 nights/week. Their beautiful...
Looking out the large window by our table, the pedestrian bridge connecting the little island in the middle of the lake completed the picture of being out in the country and looked so inviting to explore. Quiet conversations, food servers delivering food that smelled and looked tantalizing. We met the owner as he stopped at each table welcome everyone. The...
A real hidden gem, clearly popular with the locals. Incredible she crab soup, that you can stand a spoon in.
It had been a good long while, since we had eaten here. We clipped out a coupon offering discounts for dinner entrees, but decided to go with something for lunch. My wife and I always share, but not really knowing what we were in for, we just decided to delve in. We ordered the Calamari for the two of us,...
We'd been here before, and enjoyed it. The new owners are young, so I understand the more casual ambience (no more tablecloths). Our nice-enough young waitress wasn't well-trained. If one asks for water, both should be queried, if not automatically brought water. Moreover, she wore shorts.
The first drink I ordered from the menu, a mojito, was unavailable.
My ahi...
