We are both MD natives, and agreed that Big Al's lump crab cakes were probably the best we'd ever had. The cakes were made ONLY with lump meat (often "lump crab cakes" means some lumps, but mostly little shreds, at other places)--the crab was obviously fresh, huge, and perfectly cooked--not a trace of shell, or competing flavors/ingredients! We recently were in St. Michaels and stopped for lunch at Big Al's. It was very hot so we ate inside. My husband and I both had the jumbo lump crab cake sandwiches. They were great. We enjoyed them so much we ordered two more sandwiches to go to have for dinner!!!
