Nice hotel close to Duke and resraurants

The staff was friendly, the room was comfortable and breakfast was served daily, including waffles. However, I paid almost double by booking with Expedia because I did not get the Duke Famiky discount. I would have if I had booked directly. Overall we had a good wxperience.

Reservations clerk dressed inappropriately and did not greet us on arrival. He was distracted, on computer. Mummbled and was very vague.
The room smelled,large stains on carpet. Bed linens threadbare. 3 12 in square Pillows on bed. Not even standard size. Furniture banged up. Switch on lamps broken off. Plugged in phone to charge and connect to the "Free Wifi". Didn't work... No electricity!!...

It was horrible! We checked out within 30 minutes of checking in. The hotel wouldn't refund any of the costs and it was so bad I didn't care. My children were scared because it looked like a set for a cheap horror movie and I wasn't going to keep them there. The room smelled, the sink didn't drain and I didn't want our bare feet to touch the floors. There were people living there!

Base boards in bathroom were gross, and the shower knob was old and hard to adjust. The TP roll was too short for the holder, so it kept falling on the floor. I feel like it should have been in much better condition for the cost of the room... Oh, and the tiny throw pillows, which were the only pillows, were less than ideal too... Who sleeps on pillows that small??
