Editorial reviews from the web (9) view all

Fans favor the "super-cheap drinks" and "convenient location" of this "cool" "converted gas station", a "no-frills watering hole" at the busy intersection of South Lamar Boulevard and Barton Springs Road, boasting daily happy hours, pool tables and a "rockin'", "well-stocked" jukebox; ok, maybe "the patio in front feels like you're sitting in a parking lot", but that just suits the "dive"-y feel.

"Inexpensive interior Mexican food in a hole-in-the-wall" setting sums up this Zilker spot lauded for its "outstanding" fish dishes and a "huitlacoche omelet at breakfast that's worth making the trip for"; decor may be "sparse to the point of looking unfinished", but the service is "friendly" and the covered patio is pleasant for weekend brunches and happy-hour margaritas.

Doc's Motorworks Restaurant Review

Start with the South Congress egg rolls --- a distinctive take on the Asian variety --- at this laid-back hotspot, where the extra crispy rolls are filled with diced chicken or beef picadillo and served with a creamy cilantro dipping sauce. We also like the chargrilled burgers, especially the blue cheese burger slathered with spicy peppercorn sauce and accompanied by thick, homemade skin-on...

You can't beat a strong, spicy bloody mary, and Sazon knows it. Expect traditional Mexican dishes (like cactus leaf salad!) with a few Tex-Mex twists.

Strong margaritas that put a little hair on your chest, and aren't too sugary sweet. Just ask your bartender to go easy on the ice if you order it on the rocks, so you don't end up with a disproportionate ice-to-rita ratio.

Located in an old garage Doc’s Motorworks Bar and Grill is located near the bottom the hill on South Congress. Though they have great food this bar is known for having the largest selection of Texas beers. The restaurant is Austin casual and if it’s University of Texas Football season you may see a full bar in orange. The restaurant offers several TVs for different games, it’s open all day and...

Ordered the chicken mole with rice and black beans. The mole was okay, the chicken mole combo was very dry, it lacked cheese inside the enchiladas. And the mole sauce wasn't enough to compensate...

This establishment was very laid back about everything. We asked if they served food and they said no, but that we could bring in food from any of the surrounding restaurants. So, we got P. Terry's and brought it over to the bar and enjoyed some Lonestars with our burgers. They also let pets inside which I like because I would love to be able to bring my dog to the bars with me.

I had a very simple meal of chicken enchiladas made with corn tortillas and verde sauce, it was delicious with a perfect citrus, spicy balance. I ate the whole plate which for me is very rare! My...

Review Sazon on Yelp:

Tips about this business (7) view all

If the cash flow is low, take advantage of the $2 Lone Star beer all day every day, or the $2 well vodka Saturdays and Sundays.

If conversation among friends isn't enough, be sure to bring spare quarters. Pool, Ms. Pac Man and other fun arcade games will occupy the time.

When to Go

Wednesdays from 5pm to close, the little ones can eat for free off of the kids menu.
