We enjoyed sitting on the porch at Barker House, quietly talking and looking out at the water. There isn't much to actually see inside the house, just a downstairs sitting area and some small historical exhibits on the second floor. There are loads of beautiful gifts to buy and the people who work there are very friendly and helpful. You...

The view was beautiful! It was nice sitting on the porch in the rocking chairs. There was also a nice gift shop along with the history.

The Penelope Barker House and Edenton Welcome Center is dedicated to the courageous women who demanded freedom from England on October 25, 1774.

Owned by the Edenton Historical Commission, the Barker House was built for Thomas Barker and his wife, Penelope, who was a prominent figure in the Edenton Tea Party that occurred on October 25, 1774. The interior of the home is available for tours Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
