Locally owned & operated, Avila's has been serving up their family's traditional Tex-Mex recipes for 23 years. They continue to earn constant praise, adulation & recognition on their menu from those in the know, & their welcoming customer attention keeps their patrons as regulars. Everything on the menu is...
You will feel like part of the family at this restaurant with mom and daughter in the kitchen and the sons running the front. The decor is traditional with a contemporary blend of Mexican accents. Avila's presents original dishes plus the traditional Mexican foods we all love. Tried and true specialties include their exquisite Mole and great Sour Cream-Poblano Spinach Enchiladas.
Let’s begin with two words: processed cheese. In this age of artisanal, responsibly raised protein, people shudder when they read those words. But you can’t have Tex-Mex—still the most meaningful cuisine to emerge from this state—without it.We’re all about understanding other cultures and learning to appreciate Mexico’s authentic regional cuisines. Love that stuff wrapped in the banana leaves....
In Short
From the outside, Avila's looks like a house, with seemingly limited parking (there's more in back). The unassuming exterior hides one of Dallas' most popular Tex-Mex spots....
Don’t let the outside looks of this place fool you! It is GREAT food and wonderful service! Some of the best Mexican food we have ever eaten. We got a combo plate, queso and beef fajitas. Really flavorful, super spicy salsa, too. Great pre-flight meal...
I am really picky about Mexican food and, in that respect, they certainly delivered a good meal. It was flavorful, the service was a bit rushed but courteous, so that made up for a lot of things. Now, I'm an OCD-accountant-type individual. I know every...
Imagine trying to establish a Tex-Mex presence in Dallas, and then imagine trying to be outstanding. The Avila family did that, 40+ years ago, and those of us fortunate enough to partake after all this time can only count our blessings. Everything I've had in...
Finally ate there and not disappointed; we had three dishes of good old fashioned Mexican food that brought back memories. Our moms made similar dishes and these had similar taste, appearance and flavor. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.
Very rustic, but great food and service.
The chips are very good, and the salsa has a good bite. The queso is excellent.
One of the featured entrees is the roasted poblano. Not battered, and very good. Also, very large pepper. Great dish.

Mexican, Best Value, Latin: This cozy, family-run spot has been satisfying Dallas's craving for authentic Mexican food for over 25 years. The restaurant is newly renovated but Anita & Octavio Avila's recipes haven't changed a bit. Only the freshest ingredients are used that are prized for specials like chicken mole (featuring a near-perfect blend of chocolate and chile) or favorites like...
This family-run Tex-Mex favorite, which opened in 1986, can go easy on the fat: Beans are mashed, chiles rellenos are roasted, and there’s no cheese on the chicken-and-squash entree. Otherwise, expect classic hot sauce and dishes in a charming room that used to be matriarch Anita Avila’s beauty shop. Full bar.
Avila's Mexican Restaurant is located at 5307 Bradford Dr, Dallas, TX. This business specializes in Restaurants.
Welcome to Avila’s Mexican Restaurant, a Dallas favorite for 25 years. We’ve added a new grill in the kitchen, fresh paint and have plans to build a new patio, but our menu remains the same. We continue to use the tried and true recipes, passed down throughout the generations within the Avila and Martinez families, and those developed by Anita and her daughter Anna Maria when the doors opened...
