What the community has to say about Amra's

Information about this business (1)

Amra's is a bar that takes you back to the classic elegance of a 1930s bar in which a certain decorum was expected of its patrons. Enjoy the live jazz and swing music every night. The red and burgundy upholstery, darkly-stained wooden bar and high ceilings adds an ambiance of sophistication to your evening out. A great place to come after work, a night at Amra's should not be passed up.

Editorial reviews from the web (1)

Stogies, spirits and jazz are dolled up with 1920s and '30s flair at this membership-only speakeasy revival.

In Short
Located a block from Raleigh's Historic Depot District, this jazz club is reminiscent of an old-time speakeasy--where one would expect Al Capone to walk in at any time. Its...

Odd crowd of people

Average Rating

This bar is full of older women looking for younger men or older men harrasing younger women. Gross crowd of people. I felt like I was in a swinger bar.

Yelp

I love the upscale feel which starts at being carded at the door, and then the door being opened for you. It's not a huge place, but if you get there before 10pm, it's not crowded yet and you can???

Yelp

3.5 starsAmras is a small bar located in the trendy Glenwood South area where you can party like it's 2009. I say that because it is a cigar bar and people (men and women) love to light up a stogie???

Yelp

Not sure how night-life is here but it was a nice after-work place to lounge out. A nice smoke and drink is a sure way to end the day, and if you have the money this is the place to do so.Definitely???

Yelp

Admittedly, this was my go to bar when out and about in downtown Raleigh, but something has changed over the years. It is just not as cool as it once was. The drinks are fairly expensive and not???
